Engine???
So, up to this point we only now that it's not running on flash but it would be nice to know what engine they are using before I can make my mind about pre-ordering the game.

What engine?

It's a homemade engine written in C++.

That's like the polar opposite of flash performance-wise! :D

Fullscreen, gamepad support, etc...

Ed even spoiled the "filtering" options: there'll be a "flash filter" that will make the game look "less pixelly", closer to the original flash look.

Okay, thanks for the info.

I wonder if it will also have a borderless windowed option, for people that want the fullscreen experience but enjoy being able to tab off easily.

I'm curious- Would it be a deal-breaker if you found out this was made in Unity? Or MonoGame? Or UDK? Why is the engine itself the determining factor for you?

The original was done in Flash... and when you take THAT into account, YES, it does count... :P

Yeah but could there ever be anything possibly worse than Flash?

Hey, Ascii games are great! Though, Ascii isn't used to program applications like you do in Flash, C++ (And the other hundred langauges I can't be arsed to name) if that caused any confusion for you.

No, but it's good to know what the engine is because then I can have an idea what to expect out of the game in terms of bugs, performance and the "feel" of the gameplay in general.

No you can't and that makes zero sense. Compare Night in the Woods to Low Light Combat. Both made in Unity. Nothing alike in any way. Doesn't matter what the engine is, everything you mentioned is completely determined by how the engine is used.

Each engine has it's own unique features and problems, so it's unfair to say that you can tell absolutely nothing about the game based on its engine.
But I wouldn't consider engine as a leading factor when I decide to buy the game.
