Biblical References in the story, characters and items?

Bit of an odd question to ask I realise, but I find references to real life stuff in games really cool. Other than the characters coming from the Bible and the game being based on a Bible story (where Isaac's dad not his mum tries to kill him) are there any other references within the game? I know a few of the bosses are ie the Horsemen. But I find game symbolism and stuff really interesting if anyone has any facts (there was next to nothing on the wiki page).

This game is reference central. Most items are a reference of some kind. Whether they're religious ones (Book of Revelations, Satanic Blible, Bible, Rosary, etc.),

Greek mytthology (Polyphemus),

other games (Meat Boy & Bandage Girl (and other charactrers from McMillens other games), Super Mario on the "How to Jump" item, The one Up and Magic Mushroom, the MissingNo. item as a reference to the MissingNo. glitch in the first Pokemon games, etc.),

or Medical Conditions (Proptosis, Harlequin baby (pls don't google either. Ever. Seriously.), the Hematemesis Pill, etc.)

Almost everything in this game is a reference of some kind. I don't think there is a full list of references, or anything, though.
