Item Ideas

Do you have any item ideas that even with the 300+ items in isaac you're still missing? What do you think would be fun or exciting items to add to the upcoming expansion 'Afterbirth'? Didn't see a discussion like this one yet, surprisingly.

I'll start:

Name: Legion
Effect: All shooting familiars are now stuck inside Isaac instead of dragging behind, shooting from his angle at all times. Also adds one familiar that shoots flaming tears.
Reason: Legion is a demon described in the bible which was an old man possesed by multiple demons. With the famous quote "My name is Legion, for I am many", it seems like a perfect fit for the game.
Requires: Have at least 3 familiars in one run to unlock the item, afterwards it can be found in the Devil Room item pool.

Here's another one:

Name: Blacklight
Effect: Increases the damage effect of Black Hearts, The Necronomicon, the Missing Pages, Dry Baby and similar items and adds a fear effect to everyone in the room.
Reason: The Necronomicon and Missing Pages are seen as bottom-tier items. This might make them more wanted.
Requires: Must have aquired The Necronomicon as Azazel before it is unlocked. Can be found in the Secret Room or in the Devil Room for 1 Heart.

Name: OBE (Out-of-Body-Experience)
Effect: Soul and body seperate. The body moves and shoots with the tear controls while the soul gains flight and moves with the movement keys. The body cannot be hurt but the soul has no way to defend itself. All your current Red Hearts are turned into Soul Hearts. All your tear stats remain the same. The soul is the 'primary body' that takes damage, has to pick up items, moves through doors to proceed and all that stuff.
Reason: Seems like a unique idea that hasn't been covered yet. OBE's are often described to be supernatural phenomena which fits the game's theme.
Requires: Complete either a full Meat Boy or Bandage Girl to unlock it.

Chemistry Set
One-use space bar item that replicates the effect your currenty held pill, similar to Blank Card. Needs to be one use only due to stat-up pills.
Should be a shop item.

That's a cool idea, I don't even think it needs to be one-use but simply has a very slow recharge rate. It could be game-breaking in combination with the Habit and things like that, but most space-bar items are broken that way already any way.

You could even have a second version:
Chemistry Set 2
Changes the the effect of your current pill to a random other one.

Item name: Cookie..

Adds 1 DMG, 2 Health containers.
Takes 2 range, and half a tears. Not too good but i like cookies

[Iron Man]

Ebola. Leave a trail of blood + enemy starts bleeding on contact. -1 health

Ha, nice one! I was trying to think of more scary diseases for the game as well but not much succes so far.

Name: Mutilation
Effect:Isaac loses both his arms and starts to bleed randomly, shooting red tears that do +1 more damage than your normal tears.

I like the way you guys think, here's another one:

Name: Punji Pain
Effect: Usable item. Lays immovable spikes on the floor that damage anything stepping on it including yourself. Stronger then Creep. Doesn't disappear until you leave the room.
Reason: Items that make you use your enviroment more are very scarce. More would be fun.
Requires: Use the Sacrifice Room more then 1 time on any run. Can then be found in the Shop item pool.

If the damage effect is too small they won't be enough wanted....

Name: Praise Gaben.
Effect: Similar to Steam Sale, but randomly drops item shop prices between 20-90% and a very tiny chance of an item being completely free. Changes the shop owner's look to reference the famous 'Praise Gaben' pictures.
Reason: Just for fun
Requires: Find more then 1 steam sale in a run. Can afterwards be found in Secret Rooms or by fighting Greed.

First thing on my mind was that oe item descrpitions mod that changes the description of steam sale to PRAISE GABEN (ugh so many typos for me today :c) I also misread steam sale as satan sale...
