how does the balancing in libra really work??
reading on the rebirth wiki (bottom) i saw that it's supposed to balance out your stats but it doesn't seem to work the way its explained there, at least not in the way i perceived their explanation. what i got out from reading the wiki was that if i use a speed up all of my stats increase with it, except luck. and if i use a speed down all of my stats decrease with it.

but last time i used libra i kept an eye on my stats and thats not what happened. at the end of the run i had full speed and range, everything else were as low as they were when i started, only 1s and 2s think i had 3 on damage. but since i got libra at the very beginning the other stats should have increased with the speed and range.

was this a bug or maybe i've just read the explanation wrong?
either way i need some help figuring this out.

Libra only balances your stats once. It adds all your stats together, balances them across everything, and then adds a small bonus, I think.

Edit: Though I see the wiki is saying that isn't true. I've never seen the effect that the wiki's describing.

I do believe libra updates constantly, as i have picked up several items that drastically alter stats after it (such as soy milk) and it balanced them.

yea the wiki description had me confused. and if it balances once at pickup its probably only some minor balancing because i haven't seen any real changes at all. but i could be wrong. only time i really tried to keep track were when i got it early on and were double checking throughout the game to see if the wiki were right since i never noticed anything similar to whats in the wiki.

Very true.

Speed caps at 4 bars on the stat screen while Luck scales consistently but starts at 1 (most characters start with 0 luck, so you need at least 2 luck upgrades to show improvement). Shot Speed and Tears aren't scaled properly; it's unlikely you'll reach the cap in either one. Damage has the opposite problem; most runs will end far over the damage cap. 11 DMG will max the chart (for reference, Isaac's DMG is 3.5), only 3 or 4 DMG ups are needed.

Libra operates like this: Constantly normalizes Damage, Tears, Range, and Speed through entire run; No benefit from stats going over caps; Relative value: 1 Damage = 2.5 Range = 0.15 Speed.

ok that makes sense. so if we say i start with 0 on all stats and when i get a stat upgrade it upgrades all stats equally, by 1, so you mean if this is the case some of the stats would show as capped earlier because all the stats have different caps.
that would explain why i cappe out some but others weren't
