I'm happy to see the original is getting a bit of extra love, since I thought it'd be left in the dust after Rebirth's release.
I'm not saying that out of a love for pixels, I'm saying that because where the hell is all the shading.
>Original game looks ugly
>Using shaders on Rebirth
Okay...
I mean like, iunno. What I was trying to say is the high lack of contrast and different tones. Everything was so bright and nearly the same color as everything else, while in Rebirth, they really toned down the colors to the more eerie and dark vision of the game. I ESPECIALLY love what they did to Depths and Catacombs. And Cathedral. Cathedral is freaking beautiful.
Personally I'm not a big fan of the pixels in Rebirth compared to the razor sharp smooth lines in the original, but for the framerate stability and speed it's a worthwhile sacrifice.
And it's gonna get DLC too. So - nice that Florian works on that update for WotL, I hope that hardcore original game lovers will be extatic about it. I'm not :P
i thought the original was at it's breaking point due to it being made in flash?
That's what they thought, but it seems they were a bit wrong.
If you haven't heard of Community Remix, it was a mod for the original game that managed to add in more than 20 new items, a new character, some new cards, and a few other things. However, it was apparently a real hassle to get it to work, and they eventually did reach a point where they just couldn't add more at all.
The limitations can be stretched a bit further than Edmund and Florian originally thought, but it takes quite a bit of effort, and there's still an eventual wall they can't climb.
