Bible stories (Binding of Isaac spoilers and biblical spoilers)

As you may have noticed, this game has many obscure biblical references. If you're curious about them, these are all the ones I can identify in the characters. If you have any other opinions or references you'd like to add, please do!

First, the title Binding of Isaac refers to the commonly used term for the event where Abraham, a notable prophet in the book of Genesis in The Bible, was commanded by God to sacrifice his son, Isaac. As some of you may have read, Abraham was willing to show his faith in obeying his God by sacrificing Isaac, but at the last moment, Heavenly Father had an angel prevent Abraham from killing Isaac.

In this game, where Isaac is seen reading The Bible on occasion, and with his fanatic mother, we can assume that his family read The Bible often. With the entire game being inside Isaac's mind, save for a few endings, I would assume that most or all characters are Isaac's comparison of himself to them. Anyone in this topic probably already knows the game's story, so I won't be going over that in detail here, just how Isaac might identify himself with the character in relation to his life, and the significance of each character in The Bible. Everything within are my own ideas for why characters are who they are and what their items are.

Isaac: Named after Abraham's son Isaac. See above.

Magdalene: Named after Mary Magdalene in The Bible, mother of Jesus. Isaac being forced to dress as his sister frequently probably gives him this identity. Isaac believing his sister the better, more pure child in the family. Therefore, Magdalene has an extra heart and the Yum Heart item.

Cain: Named after Cain in The Bible, brother of Abel and son of Adam and Eve. Cain, under the guidance of Satan, killed Abel, the first murder ever committed. Isaac believed he is the reason for his sister's death. The foot is, perhaps, Abel's lucky foot instead of a rabbit's foot.
Judas: Named after Judas in The Bible, the apostle of Jesus Christ who betrayed him. Isaac believes he betrayed his mother. He has three coins, representative of the 30 pieces of silver which Judas gained in exchange for Jesus's life. He wears a hat because Jews wear fez hats.

???: Representation of Isaac following his potential suicide.
Eve: Named for Eve, Adam's wife in The Bible. She has the ♥♥♥♥♥ of Babylon item because Babylon, while a real city in The Bible, is also referenced as the world of man, or the world of carnal pleasures. Eve is the mother of all living, the mother of met, or the mother of the world of man, therefore, The ♥♥♥♥♥ of Babylon. The ♥♥♥♥♥ of Babylon is not reference to Eve in The Bible, but instead is The Beast or the Antichrist. Several prophets in The Bible also title Jerusalem as a spiritual harlot. Eve has the Dead Bird because, through Eve's transgression (and Adam's), death came into the world.

Samson: Named after Samson in The Bible. Samson has long hair because Samson of The Bible grew his hair nonstop almost all of his life, as he was Promised by the Lord that as long as a razor did not touch his head, his strength would grow beyond that of normal man. His item, Bloody Lust, could be alluding to that fact of his hair growing and growing over time, while over time in a floor you may take more and more damage, therefore becoming stronger and stronger. "Lust" in "Bloody Lust" may also refer to his love/lust for Delilah who persuaded him to give up his secret and cut his hair, therefore loosing his strength, as happens at the end of every floor in Binding of Isaac: Rebirth.

Azazel: Named for the term usually meaning "fallen angel" in The Bible. "Azazel" is also another term for "Devil." Isaac believed he was fallen because of the sin he thought he committed by killing his sister.

Lazarus: Named for Lazarus in The Bible whom Jesus raised from the dead.
