Mines II Knife Piece sequence crash
I'm trying to finally do some mother runs and get those unlocks, however I've been getting a consistent crash upon riding the minecart into the boarded room. The game crashes upon trying to load the room. After roughly three hours of disabling/enabling mods, reloading the game (Due to Repentogon, which does not seem to be the issue), entering a run, debugging my way to Mines II to check, the game still crashes the second I enable ANYTHING other than an API mod or EID. The only item mods I play with beyond resprites are the Toybox Collection, Quarry Collection, and very recently, the Lazy Mattpack, which I haven't really gotten the chance to play around with much at all. Other than that, the main mods are Antibirth Music +++, some sound mods, and moar crawlspaces, but the game crashed regardless if the latter was enabled or not.

Reading around online, the only solutions I've found are deleting all items.xml files and recreating them through EZItems/Tools/replacing them with an existing vanilla items.xml or using a 'fix' mod that simply just spawns the second knife piece in the starting room of Mines II, both solutions being roughly 3-4 years old now. Are there any other solutions anyone knows of or is this really it?
Trying to read through the most recent log file I've generated is very similar to the other log dumps I've seen in the few I've managed to find, the main difference being the room mentioned. in the other log dumps I've found the room was 1.10010(Mineshaft Lobby)
in my dump, the last mentioned room is 1.10008(Secret Entrance). There's a warn line regarding ChangeRoom() and the current room index, then it catches the exception and crashes. Unsure if the log difference is due to use of Debug Flags to reach Mines II quickly to test mod combinations to see what crashes or if its some other issue I'm unsure of. I just want to run with my silly little mods, man.

The cause of the crash is still the same as back then: mods editing outdated versions of files (= outdated mods) cause instabilities, and the most common file causing the crash is items.xml (though it is not out of the question that other files may cause a crash as well, but the items file is the best place to start).

The options are still the same as back then: either update the modded files yourself (basically what you're describing), wait for the modder to do it (assuming they still somewhat care after all this time), or get rid of the responsible mods (which I assume you don't want to do unless forced).
Good to know. There are a handful of mods I don't really want to part with, so I'll see how using EZTools goes and if it becomes too tedious, I'll simply just run nothing but EID. Thanks for the quick reply though !

Plus, every other run but mother seems to work just fine with mods, so I can still run everything just fine elsewhere. Just the mother route that's effected it seems.
