Xbox 360 controller not working

Been working on this for about 2 and a half hours now and have come up fruitless. As I stand I have the Xbox 360 controller plugged in through a powered USB port, the light on the xbox controller is blinking but is never solid for more than two seconds. I have researched drivers and tried uninstalling and reinstalling drivers but nothing works, anyone got any suggestions?

I have also gone into the binding of isaac controls to switch to controller but it only shows Keyboard

This worked for me :

"Well i Solved it like this:
I installed the X-Box Accessories for Wired controller
http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/en-us/d/xbox-360-controller-for-windows
If your lucky the Controller's now installed automatically.
If your unlucky just follow these steps:

1. Enter the Device Manager
2. Right Click "Controller" which most likely has a "!" on it.
3. Then choose to manually update your driver.
4. Pick the option to browse your computer for drivers.
5. You will see an option for Common Microsoft Controllers.
6. Choose the driver X-Box 360 Controller for Windows Version: 2.1.0~"

so I'm on a windows 8.1 pc, and there's no driver for Windows 8.1 nor Windows 8, so what should i do? Also when the controller works for games and such does the Ring on the controller go solid green?

Alright so I found a video explaining how you can download the driver to your bit(in this case 64-bit)and you can go into properties and turn it to a compatibility mode for Windows 7. I found the driver Xbox 360 Controller for Windows version: 2.1.0(random stuff), and I selected that, it asked to restart so I restarted and now that I have the xbox controller still set to Windows 2.1.0 nothing is working still, the controller just keeps blinking.

You can try this too : "It seems to be when you run the game originally using the mouse and keyboard that this happens, if you run it through Big Picture with the controller you will be fine."

oh yeah I already saw that post and I guess my computer just can't recognise the controller at all, if you have any advice on how to use controller on Big Picture mode that would be greatly appreciated. I have gone into big picture went into settings clicked controller and it said it could not recognise one when it was plugged in.

ok so I plugged in my remote and it actually lit up but it's solid it doesn't look like I'm player 1. I'll retry the steps now.

Also, so my computer installed a driver immediately, Xbox 360 Wireless Controller via Play and Charge Kit Version: 2.1.0(random numbers), but it wasn't working with this so that's why i started to do all this research

Would an emulator work?(If i think I know what that is xD)

If it's no dectected by your pc, there are not many chance it will work.
Worth a try anyway.
