that's it.
Samson requires taking no damage for 2 floors in a row if you can do that
if you walk into a devil room with 3 items for 1 heart each, take all 3 and you'll unlock him.
- You got low health at start , that's bad no ? yeah maybe but you'll quickly have to learn dodging in early game it's a good practice since early levels are the easier.
- You got alot of damage so if you manage to get health upgrade It will be easier to pass the harder levels.
Cain is also a good starter character for the reasons already mentioned. Those would be my two most recommended characters for beginners, since they are fairly low risk.
Azazel isn't so great for complete newbies imo. He's really strong to be sure, but he requires you to have pretty decent spacing and a fair amount of experience with enemy patterns to avoid stuff. He's pretty squishy to start out, and given his very low range, inexperienced players can often find themselves dying before they get some replenishable hearts. He also has a very static attack with very few synergies, so he's pretty poor for learning about the various items.
