The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth

(0xE1) Error Code - Steam Popup saying Isaac contains VIRUS/Unwanted Software... Please help!
Every time I try to start Isaac in steam I keep getting steam error popups that say that the isaac file contains a virus or a potentially unwanted software (0xE1) error code. When I try to validate the game files from the steam properties tab it says there's a missing file and then a 3.1 MB file repeatedly fails to download and returns a DISK READ ERROR next to isaac in the steam downloads. Also I've been getting a (missing executable) error popup if I try to move the download to a different drive. Then the same 0xE1 error code pups up.

This started happening after the game randomly crashed yesterday in the middle of a run and I've spent hours trying to fix it with no success.

Does anyone know a good solution for this?

It's your antvirus false flagging a game file and quarentining/deleting it, a common issue. You need to have the software allow the file. https://help.steampowered.com/en/faqs/view/5F3D-1477-AFF9-C4F3

Thanks, yeah I had my school in charge of my IT Administrator and they wouldn't let me change virus white list settings. If you're struggling with this too, just try to download isaac and when it pops up the antivirus protection click on the notification and allow the file to download.

I wouldn't allow the file, since at least for me the file flagged as a virus is called "HackTool:Win32/crack".
My guess is this file is being attached to the isaac executable by some common mod

That's not the file name that's just what the virus software thinks it's similar to based on the encryption but it's wrong. You wont get a virus from steam games. Valve doesn't want sued for distributing viruses. Everything is checked before they host the game files. As said in the link above Steam actually says to turn off your virus software when playing steam games. They are making a guarantee to players it's safe.
