Can't unlock tainted characters anymore

I did a Cain run - I dropped a chocolate bar in the 1st basement (it didn't drop cracked key) and i thought maybe i could use debug mode to open the door, tainted Cain flew up in the air...but didn't do anything; I tried undoing debug and nothing happened

I did Samson & Azazel runs too and now i can't unlock the tainted versions :(

Well that's why he didn't get the achievement but we're still trying to figure out why he didn't get a cracked key.

Maybe OP hasn't unlocked "Red Key" on their Cain attempt yet. Or perhaps, they've used "Forget Me Now" on Basement 1. Then they've enabled the console and couldn't get any more unlocks because of that.

Well, since you used debug mode on standard run, so I assume near your consumables, you will see crossed cup. If that was the case, that will perevent having achievements and unlocks, if I am not mistaken. Try not to use debug console now, and also disable it (well, since you enabled it, you should know how to disable it).

I once dropped 5 trinkets in a boss room and got 5 red keys. 🤔 I'm pretty sure that mechanic doesn't have a proc chance.

I pretty much always got cracked keys without fail. Even if it's a chance, it has to be a really big one, 95% or more and I never got that small fail chance.

Likely answer is he didn't unlock Red Key, just went straight for the Tainted Characters after looking them up online, unless it was mentioned that's not the case.

always worked for me & ive almost unlocked all of the characters, only got the annoying ones left like lost, jacob & a couple of others i dont rly play as.
the only time ive failed to create a cracked key was when i accidentally picked up the tick before dropping my trinket to the boss room

yeah because console disables achievements. And you need to drop a trinket in the boss room.

That made me think of another possibility: Maybe there was a misunderstanding about that.

It must be turned off in the config.
If it’s on, it will still count as being used, even if you don’t use it.
Check to make sure it’s actually off.

Plot twist: I found out about something else that was confirmed to prevent cracked keys from appearing.

Yeah, and once i took Little Baggy before ascending. Well... now I know cracked keys count as cards and all I found was pills. pills pills pills

So watch out for that.

Not true. I've unlocked a few with it open.
But also on other runs, run into issues.

i have never even heard that this was a thing. if it was i think it would be on the wiki by now. probably just an odd glitch

there was a time where mods on repentance got completely disabled. just saying. during that period was you not able to unlock anything with the debug console active. so, everyone who writes here right now "what? but i can unlock stuff with debug console active" was not here where mods was completely disabled for repentance =P.

That has nothing to do with what I said so im not sure why you quoted me in this. What I said has nothing to do with mods or debug blocking unlocks I just have never heard of this happening before
