The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth

The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth

The game has a virus¿?
The title sounds stupid, so many people playing the game and no one encountered a virus. However, i encountered one and I don't know what else to do rn, so I express it here.

Basically, one day my game started failling: whenever I wanted to run the game from the launcher, an error box would pop up and say one of the files was missing (specifically the .exe), so i couldn't start the program. I scanned my pc with microsoft defender and tried all the exams, when a malware called "Hacktool.win32/crack" popped up. I searched about it and it seems to be a program used for hacking that comes infected with this virus, and i got that virus even though i never installed such program. Also, the virus was installed in the .exe of the game (wich is the reason i cannot run tboi).

I tried eliminating it by myself, antiviruses and technical help, but the only resolution to my problem i've found by now is simply uninstall the game and never install it again, so the virus never activates. The virus is still in te files of the game, but is not active. Couldn't find a way to completely remove it without formatting the whole computer. Did someona encounter with this problem or somethinng similar? Sorry for the length of this :p

There's no virus, it's a false positive. Tell your antivirus to ignore Isaac and you'll be fine.

No I don´t think that is what is happening. I don´t even use any antivirus, I just tried some when I already had this problem with the game. The virus exists and has a name, and what it does is to use te resources of the pc to mine crypto, steal information, etc.

There is no virus in Isaac. It is a false positive, as said above. Missing exes are typical for that.

virus on a steam game lmao, yes some games could be mining aka some free games do that but all games are safe on steam since they scan your game or something before they sell it.

steam selling games that are not safe is horrible and i doubt they would allow it, pretty sure steam does not allow cryto mining games on too but i see people complain about games running in the back ground after closing

Yes steam checks the files. Steam even recommends not using virus software while playing steam games because of issues like this.

You had the problem due to defender running in the background and quarentining/deleting the file. Defender just guesses what it thinks a file is due to encryption so it guessing a name doesn't mean that's what it really is. It was a common issue awhile ago when Defender did an update. You have to make an exception for the file and game and allow it. You'll probably also have to reinstall since you let defender delete the exe file for the game.
