Does challenges unlock items?

I try to beat some challenges once in a while, i'm into do all the challenges in a row because there's some f*cked up sh*t. Welp, moving on... My question is, can i unlock items on my Items Sheet (at Stats) and/or unlock Achievement items?

I just want to be sure, because i did the challenge were you unlock Robot Baby 2.0, was kinda fast, so i did the Boss Rush at the end just because Polyphemus appeared on the room, but i noticed that only the Robot Baby was unlocked.

First of all, you need to touch the trophy to actually beat the challenge and unlock the item, so moving onto Sheol when you just needed to beat It Lives is a mistake. Probably not your issue, but it's there.

Otherwise, once you unlock the item, it just means the item is now capable of appearing in-game. In your case, you'd need to unlock Robo-Baby 2.0, find him, and pick him up in a normal non-seeded run to have it count towards your collection grid.

What a meant to say is, if i buy or get an item while i'm doing a challenge and i haven't get this very same item on a normal run, it will appear on my items sheet?

PS:. I know about the trophy thing, i just did Boss Rush because i had plenty of hearts and a very good damage.

Ah, right. No, finding new items during challenges or seeded runs won't count.
