Broken Remote - no I AM ERROR?

Did they change it so you can't get to the I AM ERROR room via the broken remote and an always ready activated item?

I've been trying for a while with guppy's paw, and after at least a couple hundred teleports no dice...

I also haven't gotten the devil room or any black markets via the broken remote. So I'm wondering if the wiki is outdated. According to the wiki, the broken remote and an activated item that always is charged or recharges based on seconds is the most reliable way to get to I AM ERROR.

Can anybody confirm if this actually works though? Or is whatever is written on the wiki purely speculation/outdated?

Estimating based on how long I've been doing it, and less than 3 seconds per teleport, I've teleported AT LEAST 900 times.

Maybe the chance is .0001, but considering the number of times I've been there through normal teleports, that seems wrong.

Is there anybody who could check the code to know for sure? Or anybody who's used that method recently and is quite sure it works?

Is it also possible that the broken remote can only take you to I AM ERROR rooms if you're using something that actually charges (i.e. not Guppy's Paw)?

I forget exactly where the broken remote shows up, and I know Guppy's Paw show's up in a Devil Room deal in the caves or earlier. If you use Azazel you shouldn't have problems.

Just teleported another 1000 times or so. Still nothing. Is it possible the black candle prevents it or something? I do have the black candle...

Also I just realized that if you test my seed, you should get the same RNG when trying to find one I think, so that could test if the black candle or something effects it, but not whether it works at all.

I guess people will have to find out on their own. I'm really confused though - either the wiki is wrong, is missing something, or I am having the kind of RNG it takes to win a lottery working against me.

Over 2000 teleports ought to produce something...

No, I have seen sometimes even 4 different I AM ERROR rooms with the item Undefined in the same run...

I don't think Broken Remote can send you to the error room. I was able to obtain it and Remote Detonator on Basement I in one run, and I couldn't get it after about ten solid minutes of teleport spam.

You think somebody would do that, go and tell lies on the internet?

If they are wrong, it probably wasn't an outright lie. Probably just speculation that never got tested properly.

There's also the possibility that it needs to be an item that actually charges. In other words, we're getting teleports from Guppy's Paw and Remote Detonator, but not actually converting hearts or setting off bombs. Maybe it needs to be actually charged. Maybe that means it works with things that recharge every few seconds (like the Butter Bean), or maybe it needs to be a proper room-charged item.

Of course it could also be that in both our runs something else prevented us from getting to the I AM ERROR room that we don't know about, or the wiki could also just be wrong.

If it is wrong it needs to be corrected though.

Just had the same situation with the Portable Slot/Broken Remote...teleported ~500 times and no Devil/Angel/Error Room. I *also* had black candle but had never had an Error Room before. I was in the Chest Zone.

Broken Remote has 0 chance of sending you to the I AM ERROR room after the Afterbirth update.
