Any tips for unlocking forgotten?

having a tough time trying to stay alive to boss rush and during it, i'm playing as azazel and encounter pain

This is a tough character to unlock!! I'd keep trying and it doesnt hurt to reset a run until you get bomb immunity if you're struggling with the stomps. If you're struggling with dodging I suggest to play The Lost (if you have it unlocked and with mantle) if you dont then play as Judas as he only has 1 heart at the start and you can practice your dodging. Azazel is probs the best character to use this unlock for however, it doesn't hurt trying some of the other strong characters as well. I know I haven't given to much advise but I hope this helps :)

i thought to try bomb immunity and nabbed host hat in one of my runs, then checked the wiki. apparently in repentance they removed that effect so the legs will hit you anyways, thanks for the other advice though!

just gotta keep moving really, not much else to it, but some things i will say are:
-don't hesitate to use the broken shovel, no need to save it for boss rooms or anything, just use it in any room you find tough
-optimise your movement in rooms so you dont backpedal much, if you keep going forwards then you'll avoid the foot
-make use of mom's foot to break stuff like tinted rocks or secret rooms
-if you dont have a bomb after beating the first boss under a minute, sacrifice rooms are guaranteed to give you a bomb

azazel is still probably the best character to do it with but tainted judas is decent as well if you have him unlocked. wouldnt hurt to just keep resetting until you get a good item either

Go with Azazel and try to get movement speed, what other people said applies. Try to use mom's feet to stomp slower bosses. If you ever find diplopia, save it for the boss rush or a damage up, so you can get thru the boss rush easier.

just saying, if you really wanted to, you COULD cheat, however i don't recommend it.

just saying, if you really wanted to, you COULD cheat, however i don't recommend it.

My successful run in Afterbirth+ was Azazel with Gnawed Leaf; the stomps come in pairs in such a way that you can get the invincibility up if you time it correctly and have a pause to escape the stomps. While it probably shouldn't be your only Leaf-compatible damage source, it'll definitely help to buy you a few floors to get another.

damn thats a good idea, i've usually been shrugging off gnawed leaf but i never thought of it that way

Its easy with Azazel.
You only need to kill the first boss in 1 minute flat. After that its just a chill out run with guaranteed boss rush no matter what.

Also the sacrifice room gives you one bomb if you kill the boss in 1 minute. if there is one of course.

yeah the main problem i face when getting good items is no sacrifice room

if youre struggling at boss rush, then look for an active item from the boss rush items. you can drop the shovel for the active item while in boss rush and the stomping will stop. make sure you pick it back up before you end the last wave though, or else the second shovel piece won't drop.
