What is the best character to beat Mom's heart with?
I used Azazel to beat Mom's heart once and wasted my Eden run because I didn't know tokens and such. I own Issac, Maggy, Cain, Lazarus, Azazel and Eve. Which character should I pick? Which strategies should I use for characters? (all characters don't have anything unlocked for a starting item)

Azazel is by far the easiest character. Eventually you will want to beat it on everyone though so go with who you feel comfortable with

I don't really know if there's a specific character that is best. If you are new then Maggy is helpful with her health. If you luck out with soul hearts then getting eve into curse form will give a decent damage and speed bonus on top of your build. Azazel obviously has brimstone. Just alternate through everyone when you get bored of one. I preferred judas early on because his active would make quick work of bosses on the first few floors. It sped things up nicely.

Not sure why people are saying maggie. She's very slow and one of the worse characters imo. Regardless of how much health you have, if you take red heart damage and lose the devil deal then it doesn't matter. You need to be able to kill things as fast as possible to minimise your chances of taking damage. I'd go with Azazel because he can fly and has brimstone, Cain because any pill he takes will always be positive or Eve because she does the most damage. Judas is good too when you unlock him.

I also recommend going for angel rooms instead because they generally have less bad items than devil deals. If you ignore the first devil deal completely (don't even go in the room) then the next angel/devil room generation is guaranteed to be an angel room. However, if you feel like trying your luck with devil deals then go ahead, they can still have great items in. But generally characters with strong offensive capabilities will benefit more from angel rooms since they usually have less health as a trade off. If you do decide to play maggie, then she's somebody you can take a lot of devil deals on.

But tanking is real with her and speed ups aren't rare.

With the current state of the game, mom's heart is possible to kill at any state. It's not like delirium or whole new beast fight.

True, but I think my advice applies later in the game as well. Most of a runs power will normally come from angel and devil deals and Maggie's slow speed combined with her weak offence make her one of the characters that is more prone to being hit early on.

Alright, I just beat Mom's heart with Lazarus and Azazel. Who next?

Maggy can use an early sacrifice room for a potential angel item.

Of the characters you have left, Cain is nice as a Judas substitute until you can actually unlock Judas. That said, Mom's Heart doesn't really care who you beat it with so just keep doing that until you unlock the guarantee to go further.

At the moment it doesn't matter too much who you use, since you'll need to go through Mom's Heart anyway every time you want to fight the unlockable bosses that come afterward.

Worth mentioning: if you can get into a devil or angel room on Womb 2 you can get to those next bosses a bit early. Particularly a Devil Room, which will let you unlock Judas ahead of schedule (or just dig down with We Need To Go Deeper, which takes you directly to that floor)
Hey Paisanos! May 15, 2021 @ 7:07pm
You can try Samson. He's pretty easy to unlock. Just go two floors without taking damage.
Well we sans he can defeat mom's heart with the corniest jokes there is .
