Opinion on tainted characters

I think some tainted characters have a problem and I want to see if I am the only one with these opinions. I will only speak about characters I have unlocked.

Tained Isaac: I like him, personally would prefer 10 item slots over 8 but I've beaten most endbosses with him. Kinda wished the shops were better though for a better overall run with more choice.

Tained Cain: great concept, had fun crafting... for the first 30 min. The drops needed for some items are too rare so I keep getting the same annoying builds if I don't look things up. Looking things up is really ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ annoying. Great concept terrible execution.

Tainted Azazel: now a full range brimstone all be it small (like lil' brimstone) is very neat. I think it is one of the easier characters but I am glad he has no flight to compensate for it.

Tainted Eden: I like him but I have not succeeded in unlocking stuff with him. Probably just me having trouble in the early game and not playing eden a lot.

Tainted Lost: Reminds me of the hellish days before any DLC (you know with the "It is complicated" to unlock the lost and he had no holy mantle). I really like him but the i-frames on holy mantle/card on both lost characters should be reverted.

Tainted Keeper: Annoying. I get the fading coins but their interval needs some tweaking because this thing is slow. Also not a huge fan of not having the shop key. Not sure how to feel on sticky pennies.

Tainted Apollyon: One of my favourite characters. I love him.

I need to unlock some more characters but overall I think I am more annoyed by some mechanics that could be great but are not.

Tainted issac is bad in greedier mode but fine in regular.

Tainted cain is not fun, except for people that like to game break in the most boring way possible.

Tainted maggy is awesome

Tainted judas I personally hate, but he's fine. Dark arts feels almost random some times how long it lasts. But even then its still good defensively and for curse rooms/chests.

Tainted ??? looks awful, gross. Bleh

Tainted eve needs the ability to stop making followers. Otherwise she's fine.

Tainted samson his rage needs a toggle. Late game when you have great tears his dumb melee goes off constantly.

Tainted azzy is fine

Taint laz is awful. Half the power of other characters.

Tainted eden is awful. All the changes to full run re-rolling make him bad. He absolutely is in love with and married it in vegas rolling out of all his hp. Or rolling into red hp with glass shard active.

Tainted lost..is fine

Tainted lilith is fine except many tear effects ruin her. Because they make her take forever to whip her baby out. Monstros lung is specially horrid on her.

Tainted keeper is major fun.

Tainted apollyon is fun

Tainted forgotten is absolutely RUINED by isaac's heart. And the skeleton picking thing up or using them when thrown over them needs to not happen. Slots, beggers, picking up passive/space bar items, etc. Cut it out skeleton.

Tainted beth is a fun character

Tainted jacob should work like his red redemption mode self. But with a red key that has a much lower charge.

I can't have like a real opinion of tainted lost because I haven't played him. I didn't much feel in a hurry too. I've played regular lost before without holy mantle plenty of times. I used to D4 out of it bunches.

I haven't even unlocked him yet, because I'm not even good enough at the game for regular Lost play. I'm just pointing out the obvious, that he's supposed to border on unfair by design.

No, but once your a ghost theres not much reason not to kill him so you can actually think and do shop stuff,

And his death does like a mama mega blast in that room. So if theres tinted rocks or pots you can blow those up.

I know most people have already said this but Tainted Keeper is really fun! Probably my favourite tainted character. All shops are open for him so you dont need shop key (although TBH I dont know what it does, it might have another effect im not thinking of or just do something else entirely). I also dont believe he needs more time to collect the pennies. Level one all non boss enemies will die in 1 or 2 shots. So after you shoot wait like. A second? if the enemy lives shoot again and run into them. You should be able to reliably get 20-30 pennies on first floor. Skip treasure rooms for planetariums. While you might miss something great it sucks to spend a key and see something ♥♥♥♥♥♥ on sale for 15 cents :/

And you can just not be charging cursed eye when your getting hit. Doesn't make it any less annoying.

isaac, Judas, eve, maggy, samson, azazel, lilith, keeper, and bethany are all really fun and creative

apollyon and Cain are neat but really really boring on repeat runs. every run is exactly the same with those characters because of their limiting mechanics. the lost and jacob do not belong in a game as random as this, and they need to be buffed significantly to not make every other room a coin flip on whether you lose. ??? is just finicky and annoying and struggles a lot with his bad stats, which are unnecessary when he already doesn’t get bombs. the forgotten needs more synergies but as it stands he’s just kinda boring because he doesn’t inherit most of the tear effects in the game. laz is by far the worst because you’re just crippled with 0 upsides and not in a fun way like regular lost. Eden is really really hard to play because hp ups do nothing in rerolls now and it makes them really really hard because you can’t strategize or anything. you just have to pray you won’t get screwed

I don't find it that annoying, it's like using tainted lilith's whip attack. Just spam

i would take anima sola over a billion red keys with tainted jacob, not being able to make use of esau would make it so much worse - all that character needs is esau to have way more health, i get that part of the challenge is to not kill him but he has the durability of a paper bag at any floor past depths

also i've seen people make the suggestion of 'just give them the red key lol' for almost every single tainted character now, kinda funny
