Is anyone else astonished by how much easier Tainted Jacob is?

I decided to try a run with Tainted Jacob knowing they made a few changes to him and it felt so much easier than I imagined. Now that Dark Esau is invincible and tears go right through him, I no longer had to dance around the room just to avoid hitting him, which would often cause me to take unnecessary damage. Also, Esau's movement is a lot more predictable now that he isn't restricted to 8 directions, so he's much easier to control and can no longer juke you out.

My first run with the new Tainted Jacob went fantastic. I managed to get the Perfection trinket early on, and I was able to keep it all the way until Depths II. It's hard to overstate just how much easier it is to clear rooms now that you don't have to worry about accidentally killing Esau. I ended up going against Hush since that was last mark I needed with him on my 3rd save file, and to my amazement I managed to kill him without getting hit. Esau wasn't really an obstacle at all. All I had to do was either keep him chained up whenever Anima Sola was available or simply move a little bit to the side whenever Esau is getting ready to charge.

Now that this update finally came out, Tainted Jacob no longer feels like the hardest character in the game.

According to the Wiki, it doubles Tainted Esau. They'll charge together, be chained by Anima Sola together, and just generally double down on the fact that a savvy Tainted Jacob can turn him into a benefit despite his best efforts.
