I don't know but...
I've picked the gimp mask (sweet suffering) and after bombing myself i got my hearts taken is that suposed to happen or what ?

Gimpy randomly spawns a soul heart on the floor when you get hit. The effect you are looking for is Pyromaniac, which will cause explosions to heal you instead of hurting you.

It's normal to have your hearts taken in that case.
