Afterbirth not activated?

Hello!

I purchased afterbirth yesterday. I was wondering how you could make sure the DLC activated. Steam tells me it's installed, but I get to the same menu screen when I launch Rebirth, and as far as I know I didn't see any afterbirth content in my runs yet.

Anything special to do after buying and downloading/installing? Something I missed? Anybody had the same issue if there is one? Thanks for your time.

If it says "installed", it's installed. Also, when you start the game, the titel screen will have the word "Afterbirth" under "The Binding of Isaac" (in game)

Also, there's not really any difference to the screen and whatnot (options and such), because the DLC is just added content.

Yeah so that's the problem, the title screen shows "Rebirth" as it always have.

I know what Afterbirth is supposed to be, but for some reason I can't access it.

I know it may be stupid but it happens. Is the little box next to "Installed" checked?
Maybe verify your game cache's integrity. As Flavor said there is definitely a clear indication on game start up to let you know it's Afterbirth.

Yes it is checked. I also unchecked/re-checked it to make sure it wasn't the problem. How can I verify the game's cache integrity?

EDIT: okay nevermind, it sounded scarier than it was (for anyone with the problem, right click on the game in the steam library, click properties, in one of the tabs there is a button titled "verify cache integrity").

So indeed 1 file wasn't validated, and after this, I had Afterbirth in the title! I believe I was playing the game when the update finished downloading and installing, so I suspected that maybe there was some syncing up shenanigans but had no idea how to fix it. Thank you very much for your help!

I had the exact same issue on release day. The Afterbirth title screen showed up on my wife's PC but not on mine. I verified cache and it downloaded some files which finalized the upgrade. A very silly lack of polish but luckily easy to fix.

im having the same issue but when i right click the game in the library the verify game cache option does not come up, any suggestions?

Right click->Settings/Options (idk which one)->Local Data->Verify
