(help) game won't recognize my controller
I've had this game for a year and i've always used the xbox 360 controllor for it.
I was just using it last night. I went to bed and forgot I unplugged the controller.
when I fired the game up today, and noticed my contorller was not plugged in.
I plugged it in and the game refuses to recognize it. the controller does not work AT ALL.

I tried exiting and restarting the game.
I tried verifying the local cache game files.

what is odd is that when i go into the controller options, even though the controller is plugge din, and it does not work, if I unplug the controller, I get booted out of the controller button mappings and put into the keyboard controls instead. so the game seems to recognize that a contorller is plugged in but it won't respond to the inputs.
and my controller is not broken, it works in other games

Dunno what to say. Restart, disconnect all controllers, then plug in one and start the game.

I use a PS2 controller and it works.

that did not work. I exited the game, plugged the controller back in and restarted it, and it still won't recognize the controller.
I've been using the controller for 490+ hours and just launching the game just this one time without the controller plugged in, permanently disable my controller support...this is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

I can't believe I'm the only person that has this problem...

so the controller works in other games?
i don't know how to fix the controller support for you but i think i know a way for you to use the controller anyway.

just use a key mapper for your controller. joy2key is free but it sucks imo, i'm using xpadder myself and that one is amazing but it costs money. you can probably download a trail or a p!rated version on p!rateb@y.

otherwise i'm using inputmapper to have my ps4 controller emulate a 360 controller and in inputmapper you can also map keys to your controller. and its free.
so you could try that one too.

then just open the application, if needed make a controller profile and then start mapping the keyboard keys to your controller buttons and voila! you have a working controller again.
and this way you can use a controller on all games, controller support or not.
xpadder has some amazing features if you want to dig deeper and make a more advanced setup but its also really easy to configure a simple setup like the rebirth control scheme.
so if you try xpadder and like it i really would recommend a buy, its really worth the money, at least imo

I think I read somewhere on this board before that you need to change a controller thingy in the options.ini from 0 to 1 (or vice versa)

actually, sorry for reopening this issue. it's weird, suddenly my controller is working again. I don't know what I did but it's working.

I know this is an old thread but I just ran into this issue with a PS5 controller and the solution for me was to go into steam and Steam > Settings > Controller > General Controller Settings > PlayStation Configuration Support or whatever controller you're using.
