Both are terrible, but I still think gamers can be worse.
The game's been out for 4 days. Some things were incredibly broken for a couple of hours, others were minor inconveniences at best, but - as usual - people love to blow things out of proportion, because Isaac is their only friend and they can't live without this game for more than a couple of minutes.
It's all very dramatic. Dishes have been thrown and people want to divorce themselves from Edmund because he's been a bad internet husband to them all. They thought they had something special going on, but alas, he's already taken and apparently so very salty over dataminers that he bothered to design an entire expansion just so he could screw everyone over with bugs and time-gated content. A devious plan indeed. I'll sue him in Australia, because kangaroo lawyers are said to be the best in the field of internet trolling. They just beat the crap out of you with their boxing gloves.

Basically, they nerfed the "casual playthrough" character (Azazel) and a couple of powerhouse items to the point where it's like they aren't fun or convienient to use anymore; As for the "outrage", this is the internet...there are two kinds of people who are reacting to this: You got the people who are sharing their grievances in a calm manner like "Ugh, why did they nerf Azazel, they need to fix this", and then there're the asshats who are all "ECH EMND U RUIND MAH GAEM!"
TL;DR: Whiny babies and terrible game updates.
What a disappointing experience all around.
I actually liked a couple of the new items, and the narrator saying the names of Pills and Tarot Cards when they are activated is actually pretty cool...It's just the nerfing that's making it trash now.
I don't really care about Azazel one way or another, shame about Lilith tho. But the new DLC doesn't really bring something new to the table. Most of the new enemies are just reskinned, transformation- or double enemies.
Yeah, the naration adds a nice little bit of flavor and Scarred Womb and Flooded Caves look great, but that's just a paint job again. There is no new ground breaking change in the main game, it's the same stuff I've already clocked in 300+ hours original+Rebirth.
Greed Mode is a short lived refreshing experience and Ultra Greed is a fantastic boss, but if you don't care about Daily Challenge leaderboards there is not much ACTUALLY new game to discover.
