Afterbirth is an "amazing" improvement. If false advertising is amazing to you then sure.
the increased items make holy mantel and dead cat more dificult to obtain. some rooms are imposible. small room instant troll bomb spawn on both sides or a small boss room with Girdy jr >:/,
curse rooms can now have enemies that are a lot harder to deal with, "safe" (treasure) rooms now have enemies.
Bugs: i got killed from a charmed Larry when he killed the other half and then charged right trough stones that i hid on and killed me late game. Enemies spawn on top of you happens often in greed mode, random damage for semingly no reason, damaging items spawn on you (spiked chests) and a lot more things impossible to deal with.
so yeah they added a bunch of items and it would have been fun if the balanced it properly, i can only hope they fix the things that are currently broken and not say that they are there for the "Dificulty" when they are obviously not working as they should.
I'll change my views when Edmund gives us a reason for the missing content.
One thing that I can't stand is the rewards for beating Mega Satan.
Wait a minute, is there actually a reward for beating Mega Satan now? Aside from the dead Mega Satan title screen ?
Lilith was probably my favorite character 'cause the potential for her to be OP was really high, but can't always happen. Now... You'll only really enjoy her power during boss fights aka not worth.
Yes!
Co-Op Babies.... FFS.
Really? That's more of an insult to Mega Satan than it was before. *WARNING! RANT APPROACHING*
I honestly love Mega Satan. I liked how it was hidden, but not too hidden, I liked the fight in general, and I liked that you could still have the ??? or Lamb boss fight before going to Mega Satan. The only thing wrong with it was that there was no achievement for it, and you weren't encouraged to try getting there with different characters. And it felt like quite an achievement to discover the angels, beat them both in the same run, and manage to open Mega Satan's door and beat him in a fight. There should have been some item rewards for beating him on hard mode or something. But useless babies? Really? After we have to go to all that trouble just to have a chance to fight him, then last through an epic battle and the reward for that is...
a useless new skin for a co-op option that is about as worthwhile as the Battletoads co-op.
/rant.
tl;dr: I don't care for co-op babies.
2. various new changes that make the game flat out unfair. item rooms that require you to have either a bomb or take damage to get the item. small boss rooms with aoe attacking bosses in them, you either have enough damage to fry them quickly or you're bound to take damage. not really a fun way to add difficulty.
3. broken things. normally a fun thing in isaac, but after i got the iv-bag twice on greed mode and
the infinite respawn shop item item with 2 steam sales(i could buy ANY item in the pool for 0cents) all over the course of 2 hours i got a bit annoyed. thats really not how i want to unlock every pickup in the game.
4. the thing with the missing content. now i don't really care about this one, i started a new save file anyway so getting to these things will take me a while to begin with but some people got pretty pissed about it.
so you have people with legit complaints about the current state of the game.( which does not mean they won't enjoy it, once its abit more balanced out)
and then you have people who like to take it to the extreme(its the internet. what else did i expect) and hate on everything this release represents and how deeply it scarred their hearts.
oh and you have these guys too of course, being defensive for no reason:
so yeah typical internet mixup is what it is i'd say.
I like fighting Mega Satan - just feel like we could have gotten a better reward. I don't even play co-op and I'm sure 80-90% of PC players don't either.
I seriously hope that Edmund wakes up at night to go to the W.C. and steps on a D4.
