The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth

The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth

Hush theory (spoilers)
So, as you all know, there are two familiars called Brother Bobby and Sister Maggy. But while we (presumably) see Isaac's sister in the polaroid ending, we know nothing about his brother or him having a brother at all, which is odd.

Now, to Hush. He is located in a Womb, and some people have speculated he is supposed to represent an aborted or miscarried baby (he looks like a baby in the beginning and then dies while still being in a womb). And so I thougt - what if Hush is actually Isaac's brother who was supposed to be called Bobby but died before birth? They are both blue, and, unlike Sister Maggy, Brother Bobby looks unhappy, which could be the case because he didn't get a chance to be born. Maybe his death was one of the things that turned Mom to insanity?

What do you think? I'm sorry if this is silly - at my place it's 2 am and I can't think straight, but I just needed to share this idea :D

i like the idea. but i dont think there's any way to confirm it. like 90% of the game. haha

Haha ! I like that. Maybe we should just kill Hush in family man challenge to unlock hidden content ? :D

I kept thinking in this direction and tried to figure, why does Isaac have to kill Hush if he is indeed his unborn brother? And then I came with a possible explanation!

Imagine Mom getting pregnant shortly after Isaac is born and aborting the baby because they don't have enough money to raise two children. Then, several years later, the family financial situation became more stable and when Mom gets pregnant again, she decides to keep the baby. Thus, Maggy is born. But several more years later she dies (cancer, maybe?), and Mom starts to losing it, thinking it's God punishing her for aborting her child. To escape guilt she startes to blame Isaac for the whole situation and tells him that she only aborted her second baby because of Isaac and if it wasn't for Isaac none of this would ever happen. Isaac, being a child, can't understand it's not his fault and feels responsible for Bobby's abortion. Aaaaand then we get the events of the game, with Mom trying to kill Isaac, and the Hush fight because of Isaac feeling like he killed his brother.

I know, I went a little wild here and none of this can be confirmed anyways, but this game is just so interesting to analyze :D I think tha would be my headcanon for now.

Keep it going. "TBOIR: The book" should be interesting. :D

or maybe Bobby is Isaac's twin brother who died at birth and now want to kill Isaac for taking his place? :)

i think the consensus on all that (mom attacking isaac and him fleeing into the basement and fighting stuff) is that it is only happening in his imagination.

i think that's somewhat reasonable, but i don't think the abortion theory makes sense, because an aborted baby doesn't really stay in the womb to rot. i was rather thinking that bobby/hush and isaac were twins in the womb with bobby being a parasitic twin and isaac actively (even though not consciously) killing his brother slowly over time. to me that fits with the length of the hush fight, where you're slowly chipping away his health and the size too, because it would probably be the event isaac feels the most guilt about.

Actually, now when I think about it, you're probably right! Not only because of what you mentioned, but also because of three items I just remembered, them being Bob's Rotten Head, Bob's Brain and Bob's Curse. I mean, why Bob? I doubt it's just a coincidence that this Bob shares a name with Brother Bobby (just like it's not a coincidence that Sister Maggy shares a name with Magdalene). So now I think Bob = Brother Bobby = Hush, and since all of three items have to do something with rotting, it would make sense to assume that Bob/Bobby/Hush died inside the womb and started to rot.

Bob is the Sloth sin, which was confirmed to be his name (Bob Sloth), so Bob isn't Bobby.
