The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth

The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth

theories and discussion on "hush"
if you don't know hush is a new boss is binding of issac afterbirth you can get to him after you beat it lives (not sure if moms heart counts)

once beeten he gives ending 17

but what is hush, he looks like ??? and that is also the floor's name in which he is found

i think that hush is a symbol for issac's mind (if you watch game-theorys video he says that ??? is a dead version of issac and that everything is issac's imagination)

hush is issac finaly telling his mind to stop,

one of hush's moves reflects this where hush acts like a blanket and lifts up and a army of minion hushes come out

its how a kid would be if he where "upset", they are hiding from issac, hiding from the truth

the ending also supports it, issac finds himself in a deserted area of nothing, he has nothing, then a shadowy figure appers behind issac.

issac reinvents his imagination "another run in the game"

build on this theory and maby make your own in the comments

He is NOT supposed to be a "Side Boss", he's actually supposed to give his own unique ending.
Currently Afterbirth has a bug where if you use an imported save you can't view Ending 17, because he gives you a path to the other 2 main bosses.
ok that acctualy supports my theory better, i will revise, thank you!

I think Hush could also be isaacs dead twin brother, who died before birth. maybe isaacs blames himself for his dead

So it's a bug... I was about to say that I beat Hush and I have no ending 17 nor achivement for unlocking the Blue Womb either

I have a theory about this:

That area is called Blue womb, at least in the achievements. We know that ??? Is suposed to be the corpse of Isaac. Also, we discovered in the Chest ending that Isaac had a sister. This gives me 2 ideas.

1. Hush is a mental representation of Isaac's dead sister.

...or...

2. "Isaac" is actually his own sister and Hush is just another mental reflection of him/her dead self. Edmund could have lied to us the whole time.

The color blue indicates death due to suffocation.
Hush seems to be grown into Mom's womb, like the lump of cells is soon after a fertilization.

I guess Hush might resemble a unborn child of an early stage which "suffocated" after he stopped receiving oxygenated blood because his mother died (after her heart stopped beating).

The whole ending 17 and the Hush boss makes me wonder if the Binding of Isaac is all taking place in the mind of Isaac's mother. The Hush looks like a very decomposed creature, and its human-like stage is extremely fragile. It takes very little to get past that part of the boss and make it assume its stronger, more terrifying "gooey" stage which is less recognizable as a human and more like a decomposed lump of flesh. The ending, too, opens with Isaac's mother discovering the remains of Isaac in the chest, remains that have been there for a long time since there is nothing but bones and dust. Afterwards, you see isaac in some sort of afterlife (purgatory? hell? It certainly isn't heaven with that demonic shadow behind him), and it makes me think that he still has some influence in the world in spite of being dead. One of the loading screen vignettes also supports this; the one where the Lost is up in the attic whispering to Isaac's mom the way it's shown in the opening to the game.
I think Isaac died a long time ago by suicide for some reason and the mother is growing increasingly deranged because of it, being forced to relive over and over the hardships and suffering she has made her child go through. The Hush is one of the final representations of that; she has to face the fact that her child died, that he was doomed to die from the moment he was conceived because she was such a terrible mother, hence the decomposed child in a suffocated womb. She can't stop reliving this because Isaac is not yet at rest. His spirit is still there, whispering to her.

But, that's just a theory. That is probably my favourite part about this game, I love that there are so many possibilities to the story, and that it can be interpreted in so many ways!
just throwing it out there but the item "fate" looks a lot like hush's 2nd form

Fate is supposed to be ???'s severed head.
Wait what is this I hear about ending 17? I just beat Hush with Lilith and didn't get an ending. I didn't really get anything besides Incubus. I just went on to fight Isaac and ??? like normal.
