How to beat the game?

Hi guys,
love the game and played it over 200hrs so far. But I am not the kind of guy who is lookin for instructions online and stuff like that. Till now I dont know what this game expects of me...
Please tell me what do I have to do to progress.
Is my goal to beat the game on hard with every character? Now I have some Chars that beat Satan and Isaac on hard but do I have to achieve this with "???" too? Seems like way to hard for me^^
Or are there any other ways to progress? I am golden god right now.

It really depends on how you define beat. If that is get every achievement, then you need to: kill Mom's Heart/It Lives,Satan, Isaac, ???, The Lamb, and boss rush with every character. Beat Mom's Heart/It Lives on hard with all. Beat all of that on hard with Lost. Collect every item. Beat every challenge. See all the endings (which if you do all the other stuff just means kill Mega Satan).

If you aren't up for that, just define your own goals. I'll never master The Lost so I just did everything that doesn't require him.

??? is hard ? Looks like you don't know there is another hidden character... x)

In my opinion, the first "goal" could be "killing the true last boss". Nope, ??? and the Lamb are not really the final bosses. There is another ending ! ;-)

Since you are golden god, you need only one last thing : kill angels. Go to an angel room, wake it up using a bomb, and kill it. Do it twice in the same game, then go to the Chest or Dark Room. These giant golden doors... so tempting !
Or you could open it using Dad's Key (if you unlocked it). Up to you.

Then ? Try to unlock every item in the game. What does it mean ?
- Complete all the challenges.
- Kill every boss (except "true last one") with every character, including boss rush (kill mom's foot <20min). Normal is enough, except for the "very hidden character" (not ???, but the other one). This one must kill everyone on hard.
- Kill Mom's Heart with every character on hard (unlocks coop babies).
- Get to some special sats : die 100 times, get 999 coins in the doantion machine, things like that...

Golden God is just a small step. :P

aha! I didnt even know that I can kill angels and I still dont know how to get angel/devil rooms. I found a piece of a key someday but I didnt know what to do with it. And does 999 coins give you new items? I got to 200 so far :D

Is there a page with all the "secret" things to do expect "kill everyone with everyone"? Because I find some things hard to understand.

yes the full donation machine unlocks a new item .. dont put in the 1000th penny though .. it will just reset .. had to learn that the hard way -.-

Beat everything with everyone (inc. boss rushes & hard mode)
Beat each stage without being hurt
Donate 999 coins
Beat every challenge.
Get both key pieces then <spoilers>

but thats just if you're a completionist, try not to get caught up in the acheavment hunting as it can drain the fun away from actually playing the game!

as a tip for ??? you really want to conserve hp early on, just reset if you get hurt or get bad items on the first floor or two. abuse satan rooms, if a satan room item gives you black hearts (like abadon or that black cowl thing) they are basically free as ???, make sure you dont miss out on any X rocks as well.
