The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth

Angel or Demon?
Do you prefer to take devil deals or to wait for angel deals instead? Why? I, most of the time, go with angel deals, unless I'm the lost (obviously), or a character that I would percieve as evil. Even if I see good items and I really want to take, I take the gamble that my angel deals are good, which is 50/50. Sometimes I don't even get an angel deal! Other times I get incredibly powerful items which made it worth it, such as body/mind/soul, holy grail, holy mantle, god forbid sacred heart/godhead. Which characters do you think are considered evil and which are considered good? I see maggie and eden as good, and judas, azazel, lillith and maybe eve as evil. BB, Lost, and isaac could go either way. Samson, lazarus, cain I am not sure about.

Bumbo is love, Bumbo is life.

/fixed

To put into perspective, how much of a downer Angel Rooms are: Devil Rooms have been nerfed hard since Rebirth - more items for the pool, which most of are not worth the heart containers most of the time, so you're less likely to get the good stuff.
Then every way of increasing the chance of one spawning (blowing up shopkeepers, pentagram, BoB, etc), besides taking no damage has been reduced.

Devil Rooms can now have annoying enemies with, more often than not, just red chests and no deals in them...or Krampus in a teeny-tiny mini room full of red fireplaces.

Lord of the Pit still costs 2 hearts.

And yet, Devil Deals are still way~~~ better/more reliable than Angel Rooms, even after 100%ing The Lost.

Well as the lost, not taking devil deals is like not eating the most delicious meal in front of you. As everyone else, it varies.

I didn't meant as The Lost, but after his unlocks, which can all spawn in Angel Rooms and are among the best items in the game.

Here are some other points for the Devil Room:

- More Items. Angel Rooms can only have 1 in them.
- Less likely to not contain any items. Angel Rooms more often just have Holy Chests and Souls Hearts in them, than Devil Rooms containing Black Hearts or Red Chests. (at least from my experience)
- Compare both item pools. Devil items are flat out better in general and offer better synergy with other items. Offense is the best defense.

And most importantly:

Angel rooms, they most of the time have better items and for free. Plus dad's key.
i often go with the devil deals already. the angel deal pool is just boring sometimes:robin:

I will only take a devil deal if I truly enjoy the item/items offered, otherwise angel rooms.

also, on the subject of hush + the stopwatch. I dunno, but I find that the bullet hell is just as dificult to dodge with the stopwatch as without, because even though the shots are slower, they are also much closer together...and the stopwatch does not slow down that "waterfall of tears" attack that he shoots at you, and thats always the part where I get hit. I'll get up to him as the keepr or the lost and get all the way to the end without getting hit and he'll get me with those waterfall tears, every time.

there's lots of stuff that the stopwatch does not slow down. it doesn't slow those square spike traps, it doesn't slow the earthquake tremors when brown mega fatty or the cage jumps. it doesn't slow brimstone attacks or mama gurdy's random spikes attack. there are a few others as well. you can have stopwatch and still end up in a cheapshot room, or one of those "puzzle rooms" with traps in it and you have to push the button.

stopwatch is not = automatic win like some people seem to claim
I dunno, you just need to be able to be good ENOUGH at dodging.
Also, I'm talking about the stopwatch+Hush, not other conditions.
Finally, if the stopwatch speeds up Hush, you're royally screwed.
I was talking about stopwatch vs hush too.
the one attack that most desperately needs to be slowed down, the one attack that usually kills my run and I get hit by it, is unaffected by the stopwatch.

and I did not say the bullets are impossible to dodge when he slows down. I said the bullets are just as hard to dodge in slow mo as they are at normal speed.
stopwatch is not an automatic win.

the reason why devil room items are generally better is because that's the point. it's like "having a hard time? want to win? need more power? here it is...for the low low price of, YOUR SOUL!"

but if you stay good, most of the time, your prayers are unanswered, but on some rare occasions you get rewarded with some really nice things.
the sacred heart is a great item, as is the godhead(of course you need to do everything as The Lost to get that one though...so you should be done with just about everyhting in the game by that time).
holy light, holy mantle, halo, trinity shield and wafer are all great items, now these can also be found in regular treasure rooms so, i guess that's moot.

so I dunno, yeah devil rooms are better than angel rooms, but I think they are meant to be that way.

I also just found out there's another way to get the key for mega satan without having to do angel room runs. They completely redid the sacrifice rooms, now they might actually be worth going in there. especially as The Keeper, he can keep stepping on the spike and getting stuff and picking up the coins to refill his health.

It does suck angel deals aren't guranteed, sometimes you don't even get an item. Sometimes its really, really bad like holy water or god forbid dead sea scrolls. Why is it even in the pool?!?! When I DO get a good item, like the mind/body/soul, or basically any item that isn't holy water/bible/sea scrolls, I am all like,"Sweet!"

I usually take devil deals, but I'm not the person who takes a sub-par item solely as precendent.

If the first Deal is something like Sister Maggy, then I'm not picking it up, unless I'm Familiar oriented, or I just really feel like having DwtDs.

Well, after reading this thread's comments again, I'm more of a devil room user now, because angel rooms stopped giving me items and only give me hearts. Yaaaaay.
