The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth

Hush Time Limit
Am I the only person that hates having to rush through the early levels to get to Hush within 30 minutes? I hate having to skip rooms and skip potential items. I didn't care much for the boss rush mechanic either and I hate that they essentially duplicated it. Also to get all my completion marks I'm having to do boss rush again on Hard Mode which is really annoying.

I don't care for speedrunning, and I really don't like being forced to do it.

I kinda like it. It goes against my usual playstyle, yes, but you gotta admit that a large percentage of the really broken combos involve farming or moving really slowly for the whole game--for those two challenges, all those combos are off the table. You just have to get a good starting item, go for the important stuff and ignore all the grinding and clearing every room.

Yeah, you might have to skip an item room and will probably only be able to make use of one or two shops, but that's part of the challenge. (Hint: Try actually completing some challenge rooms! It seems counter-intuitive since those are the longest rooms but the chests from one challenge room might give you all the bombs and keys you need for 2-3 levels).

Yeah I know what has to be done, only it irritates my inner compeletionist.

Doubly so when I got to Hush last run, had him down to about 2% and died, so hours worth of work was for nothing. >_>

Triple irritation in that there was a get out of jail free card in the hush shop. >_>

I'm just gonna say it, there are times when this game startst to get boring. And it's usually after the 7th or 8th failed run in a row.
I don't find getting to Hush all that difficult. You're given 20 minutes to clear six floors to reach the boss rush, and an additional 10 minutes to clear only two more floors to get to Hush. Your build is already likely pretty good to have killed Mom, so getting through another two floors shouldn't take a lot of time.

I'd wager most average players, on a fairly decent run RNG-wise, will likely need to skip rooms and have a good starting item to make it in time for the boss rush, but could make it to Mom's Heart within 30 minutes with pretty leisurely play.

For those who want to squeeze everything they can out of arcades, challenge rooms, consumables, etc., it's likely because their build wasn't strong enough to survive the boss rush or Hush anyways, so the time limit doesn't really matter.

I don't think you should feel like you're forced to speedrun the game. Not every run needs to have a successful boss rush and Hush fight. If that's what you're shooting for, then hold on to that reset key until you get a good starting item and hope that the RNG gods are in your favor. :p

Anyways, my 2 :penny:. Good luck!

Well actually yes I need to kill Hush to unlock the items. TBQH if it was as easy as you make it out to be, I wouldn't have made this topic.

Another reason why Mega Satan is better

Are you joking? The method for reaching Hush is way better than Mega Satan. Mega Satan requires you to get lucky with the RNG several times in the same run, out of a limited pool of chances--you must get the devil/angel room at least three times, but on average it'll take more like 5. And that's with only 8 floors on which it can appear at all (assuming no XL floors, in which case you get fewer chances), and the chances cut in half on the floor after you earn one.

At least with Hush and the Boss Rush, you only have to get unusually lucky once, on the first floor, and then skill can carry you the rest of the way.

you only need 2 angel rooms to get to mega satan... and getting 1 key piece makes getting the second piece practically garenteed

Also Dad Key's and Get Out of Jail Free can open Mega Satan Door. And you aren't forced to rush it.

Sick of people talking about skill like I don't know what I'm doing. Bad luck ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ happens, yo.

my only beef with hush is the arguably strongest boss in the game youre supposed to get to by speedrunning, and after the fight you have to do another 2 floors at any pace you want to fight final bosses that are far easier than the hush fight. just seems odd for the 'final' boss fight to be mid-game. also getting to hush as a character with no real upsides or a lot of early game rooms holding them back eg lilith or keypurr is a bit aggravating

That eye pillar beam can ♥♥♥♥ right off.

Personally, I find that anytime I actually have a build that won't take 10 hours to kill the hush with, I don't need to rush.
Lately had a lot of luck finding guppy and brimstone within the first four floors though :v.

We have time limited content. When can we expect escort missions? Oh, wait, it's The Guardian Challenge.
In truth, though, accessing Hush with all rooms explored will probably make the player too powerful.

I doubt that. You would need some SERIOUS firepower to be to powerful for Hush.

The only times I've had painless kills on Hush involved Stopwatch or Chaos Card.
