The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth

The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth

Why did they nerf the stopwatch?
I remember a couple of months ago before I unlocked it I worked my ass off for the stopwatch playing countless runs and hearing it slows every enemy now they nerfed it so you have to take damage I feel it's a bit unfair to nerf it this much as it was so good before no nobody will have the incentive to donate to the machine and end up with 999 coins in it

Because too many people whined about it being OP.

Well I mean, if you could manage to die while every single enemy is slowed down, you've got to be terrible at isaac, so they changed it from 0-risk/high reward to low-risk/high reward
heck it works with the lost's holy mantle now, and it works with every other character with almost no risk at all so I don't see the big problem with the nerf?

because the stopwatch was a broken item in the worst possible way. Still feel dirty after using it in a judas hard mode run (beaten mega satan, last guy needed for judas hard mode).

I still don´t understand the hardcore nerfing Edmund does in a freaking singleplayer game.
In multiplayer game I´d understand but in singleplayer, just no. Who cares if there are some OP items/characters etc. in game, you don´t need to take them/play as them.
Azazel caused non-stop whining in first weeks of Rebirth as if everyone just plays him(?) and no other character, surprise, surprise that did not happen.
Before Stopwatch was nerfed I only used it on Lost runs and even it was not guaranteed that I´d get it, same applies to every item.

none of us understand it if we're honest, this is one game designer hardon i know i will never be able to relate to.

yes, indeed, the blame certainly falls at least partly to the community as well, i honestly think jealousy would be the main motivator there, maybe?
i suppose it could be zealotry chasing a beautiful lie as well...

It works with holy mantle? If it does, great! But I thought you had to take heart damage.

That is almost always the case but there is a special case for the holy mantle. If your holy mantle is hit then the stop watch will activate. Keep in mind that the lost can start with the holy mantle now, meaning that beating the game as the lost is significantly easier now.

Sorry, let me fix that for you.

Explain to me how an item that keeps you from getting hit more than once in a room is worse than an item that can end your run.

The Lost.
The Keeper.
Anyone with less than 6 health at the time.
The broken watch can activate slow down infinite times while the stopwatch has a limited ammount that is related to the ammount of hearts in a run.

Oh, and it does not prevent hits entirly. The stomping attacks are barely effected by the stopwatch even if you do get hit.

Regardless of what you say, the stopwatch is not worth the 999 coin investment. Those items are supposed to be special damn it.

It made the game super boring.
Timur Dec 10, 2015 @ 5:57am
I was'nt the most thrilling item, but for the Lost or the Keeper it could be very essential. Changing it made the Keeper even more a pain in the ass.
