The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth

The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth

Finally beat the hush, here's a strategy
Not only did I beat him pretty easily on hard mode after multiple failed attempts on NORMAL lol but I also discovered a few other cool features. I'm positive I'm not the first to discover these features and am not claiming to be the first but I would just like to put em out there. Well lucky for me I transformed into the Leviathin on the first floor after picking up mark of the beast, pact with the devil and pentagram. This transformation has some pretty high damage from the things it uses to transform, IDK if the transformation adds more damage but it does give you the ability to fly. I was also playing as Samson so it might be possible that bloody lust is also a requirement but I doubt it. Leviathin is actually imho better than guppy because it is so much stronger but that's just my subjective opinion. You may feel different. At this point I had very low red HP but a ton of faith and evil keeping me alive. I found a prayer card in caves 1 but I also had guppy's head. Because both of those things are space bar items I had to make a choice, thankfully in rebirth there is a coin machine next to some treasure room items that allows you to pay to reroll the item. Well it turnes out not only can you reroll the item on the rock but you can also reroll any item you set down. I believe this is an actual feature and not a glitch. I grabbed prayer card and put down guppy's head which I rerolled into holy shot. Not bad, right? This feature enable you to actually use treasure rooms to strategically re-roll crappy space bar items. AWESOME! I ended up picking up tooth shot, lump of coal and mega tears so my run was pretty much easy from then on out especially after I switched out prayer card for 7 sins after a certain point. I was given the option to fight the hush and I was given cricket's body and bob's brain. Not an OP set up but it was pretty damned GREAT. I think the key to beating the hush is to have a lot of damage output and a lot of health. I think speed can help too and try to avoid any items that increase your size. I happened to take ONE size increase pill and because of this I took some damage but It wasn't too bd because I had a lot of health. The thing about the hush is that he has a lot of HP and he shoots a lot of "It lives" style "ropes" so being too big makes it harder to dodge those shots. it's probably better to be small and fast. I also happened to have a lot of bombs which helped me get through his flies and zombies and because I had bloody lust those spawned enemies actually helped me get stronger. It took me about 5 minutes to wear this M-effer down but I finally did. but I lost about 4 hearts. No bigge because you actually beat the run after killing him. MY main advice is to do a few practice runs to get the feel or his attack pattern or watch some runs on youtube. He is realy not that different from most bosses and imho I would rather fight him over mega satan any day. hope you all liked my advice if you know of any other cool obscure features in the fame (not glitches) please let me know. drop your hush fighting strategies down here too! also, does anyone know how to make the hush spawn, for sure? I can't find any answers or notice a pattern for myself when I play, it would be nice to know if it's random or a result of something I do while playing.

So your strategy is just to get some good items? That's not really helpful advice.

Also, the leviathan transformation is just hp and flight, not a damage up.

Congratz on first hush win!
In terms of how to reach the hush floor its like the boss rush, but this time you have to kill it lives, in 30:00 or less. Now that you have beaten him next time you kill him you can continue your run on to sheol or cathedral, rather than the game ending

-_- you only just beat him on NORMAL !!!! -_- just wow

Nice job dude. I think you're half right about the strategy - my only secret to Hush is to stack HP and have some decent range, since his HP scales with your damage. If I have six hearts or more, I figure I'm fine.

I also notice if I take a five minute break, then fight him, I can dodge over the long run much better than if I'd just run in, my nerves burnt from two Womb floors. For some reason, the Womb is sometimes more difficult for me than Chest, Sheol or Cathedral. Not sure why.

No. Not even close.
Leviathan's power comes from the items you pick up. You only had Tears up and flying to help you while Guppy gives you flight AND a fly on every single hit.
Guppy is better than Leviathan.

EDIT: Oh, also it's kinda hard to follow when you mess up half of the items' names.

Good Hush strategy:
Eyes on your character not on Hush
That super hard strategy caused me to beat Hush as Lost by only getting hit once (Holy Mantle)

you don't actally "beat" the run after beating Hush. your run ended there most likely, because you don't yet have the cathedral and sheol unlocked. once those unlock, then after you beat hush the hole or te shaft of light will come out allowing you to continue on to the dark room or the chest.

I know, it's fun to be excited about beating hush for the first time, i just beat him for the first time as The Lost, and almost did it as the keeper and was ready to smash my computer because I would have only had to hit him one more time but I died.

I don't really understand how his health works either. people said it scales with your attack power, so if this is the case, you want something that shoots as many tears as possible as quickly as possible.

however, many people think this means that soymilk is the best item to fight hush with...but no, that just does too little damage. I love the concept of soymilk but i've never managed to beat a run with it because of the damage penalty even with tons of damage ups i still can't overcome it.
the exception is finding libra. libra balances out the stats and takes the massive fire rate increase and resdistributes it among your other stats. very powerful

someone said that Hush's health does not scale, it stays the same and instead his damage resistance adjusts to match your attack power...which sounds kind of lame to me because then it doesn't really matter what your stats are. I brought spider mod to the fight with me and the damage numbers were the same as when I hit every other enemy. I saw no damage reduction, but I dunno, maybe it doesn't show it? I mean it shows the full damage even when i hit creatures immune to damage , like hosts. so maybe the way it works is the hosts get like 100% damage resistance when they are down but the spider mod still reports the full damage to you.

however, I do believe it is still in your best interest to be as OP as possible because the little flies and blue guys do not scale with your power, so you need enough power to destroy those guys quickly.

killing the hush while getting hit only 4 times is impressive...but as the lost or the keeper, you die in 2 hits, so you can only afford to get hit once and survive and if the lost doesn't have his holy mantle you can't even get hit that one time.
and you can not compare hush's bullet hell to It Lives. It Lives is like..."Baby's First Bullet Hell", while Hush is ..."If Michael Bay Made A Godzilla Movie"

To beat hush: step 1: get anything that blocks bullets, preferably infamy and dry baby. Step 3: profit
