When playing as Isaac, you always have 1 item in each angel room, often 2 while there's sometimes none in devil's rooms. Items such as God Head, Sacred Heart & Trinity Shield are some of the best items in the game and can only be found there. There's also some other good stuff (Holy Grail, The Soul, Holy Mantle...)
And most of the time you do not have a D6 since you are not always on isaac.
The only good angel room items are godhead, sacred heart (both special), holy grail, dead dove and the mind.
The good devil deal items are: knife, brimstone, pentagram, judas shadow, all guppy pieces, sin robes, dark matter, abbadon, deaths touch, lil brim, pact, lord of the pit, spirit of the night, curse up. (There are also OK ones like goat head or rotten baby)
+ you classify Sin Robes as a good item and The Soul as a bad one? They're almost the same item except that The Soul comes with a great effect as a bonus and don't cost you any heart.
My point is that dodging makes you loose time and therefore Trinity Shield is a huge damage upgrade since you don't need to make so much useless moves. The same goes for Holy Mantle, wich allow you to bomb your way trough the rooms without fighting ennemies and without having to dodge them while doing so.
I personnaly don't take Dark Matter, since I hate Fear effects, that makes the enemies unpredictable and therefore make you loose time while fighting them. There's some Guppy items that I don't take either. Guppy's Tail for exemple can ruin a run if you take it early since it makes you loose a lot of keys and you may end up having to clear enterely the levels to find some, or accept to loose some items.
Well these are just examples. I just wanted to say that the only purpose of this game is to have fun. Therefore there's not only one way to play it and there's no good or bad item. There's just items you like and items you dislike playing with.
"Why would you want to get more angel rooms?"
Answer is simple : because I'd like to play with some angel room items. Not every run, but during some of them.
