Game running in slow motion?
I got myself a new laptop about a month ago to replace a very old and outdated laptop I used to have.

Now here's the odd part. This new laptop has better specs than the previous but it actually runs TBoI a lot worse. I could pull off an easy 60 frames even with the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ specs my old computer had but I only get about 30 here. Though it's not really stuttering but more like running in slow motion. Enemies, cutscenes and the loading screens as well.

Before anybody gets skeptical about the average game quality I get on my new pc, I went from having 25 fps to 70 frames on Counter Strike:go and 30 fps to 80 on Dota 2. I'll post the specs down below.

Old laptop
CPU: AMD A6-4400M 2.7 GHz
GPU: AMD Radeon HD 7520G, Core: 335-686 MHz, 8.944.2.1000
RAM: 8GB DDR3
OS: Windows 7

New laptop
CPU: Intel Core i5-5200U 2.2 GHz
GPU: NVIDIA Geforce 940M
RAM: 8 GB DDR3L
OS: Windows 10

How can I fix this? I really want to play this game again in time for afterbirth. :repill:

Got windows 10, no problem with it, 60 fps and stays on top all the time.
Have you got fresh video drivers installed? Is laptop t° adequate?
Is that problem both in fullscreen and windowed mode?

Windows 10 can't be the problem as many of buds play the game on that OS.

Every driver is updated to its latest. If you mean the laptop is good, yes it is as it's brand new and having no other problems with it at all. (It is an Acer Aspire E5-573G-56RG)

Huh, quite honestly I haven't even tried playing in windowed mode yet. I should have done that before making this thread. I'll be sure test the game windowed when I get home. But as the problem is now, it's fullscreen that I'm experiencing the issue with.

small other thing ..... it is well known that skype can mess up the game and make it slow, try to force close skype and see if the problem goes on.

On a sidenote i play on win10 with no issues, beside the skype thing.

I'm having the same issue with a Geforce 860m; latest drivers. Had no issues when I was using Windows 8, but once I updated to 10, the game will only run at 45fps and slowed down when fullscreen.

The easiest fix is to run it in windowed mode and use the Windowed Borderless Gaming app (http://westechsolutions.net/sites/WindowedBorderlessGaming/).

I wish I could run it properly fullscreen, but this is practically the same.

I forced the game to run with the internal Graphics processor. It made it run smoothly but it causes visual glitches when Monstro, Mom or satan stomp on the screen.

The slow-mo is a blessing when it comes to bullet hell bosses though, maybe consider not fixing it till you 100% the lost :P

It has nothing to do with Windows 10. Windows 10 can't alter a gamespeed.

There's been more posts about this, couple of people posted a fix (something to do with the config.ini, I believe).

The vsync problem has nothing to do with this one. When you set the game to fullscreen it takes a dive in fps and it probably has to do with graphics card compatibility.

The VSync (Or MaxRenderScale) isn't what I meant. That's in the options.ini.

There's some kind of thingy with extra settings in the config file, don't know the specifics, sorry. Just hope someone on here does remember what it was.

P.S. I suggest also posting this problem on reddit, they might be able to help as well.

Yo! I actually just recently purchased this exact same laptop, but I've been having a lot of issues running several games (unfortunately, not including Isaac; I found this thread thru Google haha). I'm trying to determine if some of my issues were unique to me (constant BSODs because of Nvidia's Optimus), or if your were able to overcome similar issues somehow. I sent you a friend request, if we could message I would really appreciate it! ^__^

Hi there guys. I have a few solutions for laptop users. These did work for me most of the time, not only with Isaac, but any other games, applications too.

------------------------
1.
CHANGE BATTERY POWER OPTION TO HIGH PERFORMANCE

First : No matter what way you are using your laptop, charging or running on batteries , make sure you set the power options to high performance.

This is how you do it. Im using windows 10, but 8 and 7 should be similar . Right click on the battery icon on your quick launch tray and click Power Options ( bottom right corner on default on your tray ) or
Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Power options -> Choose or customize power plan ,
the High Performance option should be there , select that one , ( it might be hidden under the Additional Plans link on the same page ).
Once you found it click on the Change Plan Settings right next to it and double check that it is really been set up to High performance , by clicking on the Change Advanced Power settings link where you can also fine tune your battery settings.
Whenever you reinstall windows , you will have to do this again

2. If you are using an Nvidia Gpu
Open the Nvidia Control Panel by right clicking on your desktop
Select - manage 3d settings link from the left
From the drop down menu, find binding of isaac, whichever version you are playin with and add it.
Make sure its using the High performance Nvidia gpu from the drop down menu.
Apply , play the game. See if it works, it worked for me, no more stuttering.

I have an I5 cpu with an 840m nvidia gpu

Hope this helps , good luck
