In detail: a friend and I played on completely new save files for about 10-15 runs, we've beaten Hush, The Lamb and all the early game bosses, another friend wants to join on a new file they've done a single run on so far but when we load into a run, I split off into my own lobby whilst my other friends can play. I can join their ongoing game/lobby but it will make me ineligible for unlocks/achievements.
My other friend mentioned in the previous comment had a launch option on, removing the command from his launch options suddenly made us able to start a 3 player run.
I don't understand why this worked but because one of us still has this launch option on and it doesn't seem to matter but it's worth a try for anyone with this issue
This happened to me after deleting a save file. If you have no progress and some of your friends Desync or can't join due to a firewall error pop-up. can do the following:
Complete the first floor when hosting. even if they Desync, they would join next floor automatically from the lobby, won't desync from the game when playing anymore.
I've also deleted my save file from coop with Steam Cloud disabled then re-enabled it,
not sure if it has to do something with it. I did play online with an empty save file.
Second this, just tried it and it worked with the caveat of having to do it every time, which is sadly a little annoying because afaik you cant get unlocks if you join on the next floor which is sadly automatic when joining from the lobby.
Then reinstall the game.
After doing this, my friend and I have never encountered the desynced issue again. It might have been caused by file conflicts.
Hope this helps:)
