Polaroid And The Negative

So, I'v killed It Lives for the first time just now, I know theres a choice to pick one of them.
I was woundering how do i even get the choice to get them, Like, How to unlock them.
Also what do they do.

I believe you have to beat Isaac five times.

Taking the Polaroid will allow you to enter the Chest and face Blue baby after defeating Isaac, and the Negative, which is unlocked by beating Satan five times, will allow you to face The Lamb in the Dark Room after beating Satan.

To unlock Polaroid, beat Cathedral 5 times.
To unlock the Negative, beat Sheol 5 times.

Polaroid grants you access to The Chest floor when you beat Cathedral while holding it. It also gives you a temporary shield when you get hit while you have 1/2 or less red hearts.
Negative grants you access to The Dark Room floor when you beat Sheol with it. Upon getting hit, it also damages all enemies when you have 1/2 or less red hearts.

Note: Both of these items can not be rerolled with D4 or Dice room (1,6).

After defeating the boss in Cathedral and Sheol 5 times respectively, you''ll unlock the Polaroid and the Negative (Polaroid for Cathedral, Negative for Sheol). Polaroid triggers an Shield if you get down to 1 red heart, Negative deals Necronomicon-like damage instead. Their main useage however is to ist you progress after Cathedral and Sheol. You need Polaroid for the stage after Cathedral and Negative for the Stage after Sheol.
