whats the point of the daily run?

I mean. yeah I've heard people say it.
"it's a fun seed each day that is the same for everyone so you can see how well you do compared to others"

the reasons I ask what's the point..

nobody ever talks about it or discusses it.
the leaderboards are dominated by hackers.

the leaderboards are almost impossible to read. you can see the top 50, or you can see the small cut section where you placed. yeah theoretically you could scroll through the entire leaderboard but it's so slow, who would actually scrolll through 10,000 steam user names they don't even recognize.

the leaderboard only goes back a few days and then the high scores are lost forever. (I suppose I could take a screenshot each day...)

it doesn't even give you the seed so you can play it on another day so once the day ends, the daily run is forgotten forever...(unless a youtuber recorded their play through it?)

the scores are meaningless.

yeah, I play the daily runs, because I got 1001% on the game anyway but still, what's the point?

I still think the regular runs should save your high scores, it doesn't even do a breakdown of it. if you win a regular run, it just does the ending and brings you back to character selection for another run.

In game leaderboards suck ass and you're right, this 'community hub' is pretty much dead.

But, there's a much better site with dailies results - greedbutt.com (it's not a joke btw, that's the name of the site :)), which also includes frequent bans for cheaters and breakdown of each score (so you can see how many points you got for what) and you can follow up to 10 friends / whoever you want

Yeah i use greedbutt.com for checking the scores too. One of the best things i think about greedbutt is it gives you where you placed as a percentage, plus if you hover over your avatar it gives you your percentage overall. I just like to play the dailys and try to beat my current percentage. Dont really have many friends who play afterbirth, but i suppose its nice to compare your scores to your friends too. Im the same as you, have 1001% and for me the dailys give a reason to play every day. I love the game, but after getting all the achievements i dont have the motivation to play regular. Thanks to the dailys pulling me in every day ive been playing some normal runs too, trying to get a streak for the 1st time, so i guess the dailys rekindled my interest.
So yeah, short version i like the dailys, added motivation to play afterbirth ^^
In terms of speaking about it, i guess people dont want to ruin the runs for people who havnt played it yet, or dont want to give anything away so others beat their score!

Yup, I've 1001% the game too, now dailies is the only thing that's left for me in Afterbirth. And sometimes, when the daily is tedious and tough, I just die on purpose, so my Afterbirth adventure for that day lasts only like 15 minutes :P

Let's be honest. If you want to spoil the run to yourself to get the best score imaginable, you're gonna not only look up what other say, but also buy the second copy of the game on different account to find the most optimal way of beating the daily.

I say - screw that :P I always play blind, knowing only what game tells me, because otherwise - what's the point...

well, one way you could cheat at the daily is just wait for a youtuber to post a video and watch them first, but yeah, I see the point, maybe people don't talk about it because they don't want to spoil it.


funny thing, considering I have 1001% on a save file, if I get the urge to play more, I play one of the other 2 save files and make progress on those.
I have a second save file where I am "real platinum god" and a third savefile that I started fresh and clean when afterbirth came out.
I wanted to see how long it might take to get 1001% from nothing with afterbirth installed.
I dunno, I have half of the challenges done and isaac,maggy,judas,cain,blue baby and eve's post it notes complete, but only 400 coins in the shop donation and 500 in the greed machine and still have not unlocked the lost or the keeper.

I'm sure that i'll never 1001% a second save file, I just have them there in case I still want to play more.

Yeah id been thinking about starting a new save file too, ive never done that before.Ive been really consistent in the dailies though, and even though i dont get the really good high scores, 9 times out of 10 im getting to the end (picking up the trophy wherever that might be). So i decided to start going for a streak, only Eden runs so no restart just take what your given. Currently on 10 at my first attempt, which probably isnt great for most but im quite chuffed about so just trying to see how that goes. I think when this streak ends im going to start a new save file.

Anyone else think that dailys should count for your streak? I know at times you dont go further than mom but i still think your streak could count. I understand why you dont get achievements and i guess its difficult to allow the streak but not the achievements/unlocks but still......

There are special dailies that are pretty fun. I missed the Iwata one but there was also the Christmas Daily and just the other day there was a blindfolded daily. Like others have said its something fun to do after 1001% other than streaking.
