Judas does good damage, but can't fly, has only one heart to start with, and has basic shots.
Sorry, but Azazel is indeed the easy mode (easiest, anyway). Yes, it forces you to be careful about how close you can get to enemies, but this skill is useful for any character afterwards. It's a great learning character in my opinion.
Once you get used to his range and attack you can dominate that game. I think I've beaten it with him the most.
Flying by default alone is amazing, and combining that with the mini-Brimstone that he's got means you get absolute manueverability and the ability to cheese non-flying enemies from the get-go, plus really high damage from the mini-Brimstone, PLUS he can actually acquire heart containers unlike ???, so both HP up and Soul Heart generators work really well with him.
Easily the best character in the game.
Only one that I would think comes close is The Lost with all the starting items unlocked, and even then, Azzy is a lot less squishy and has more HP potential.
Also damaging floors will never hurt you either which I think is kind of op.
