Does the game get harder as you play?

Hi. I'm still fairly new to the game and trying different characters, challenges etc.

However it seems the game's difficutly got harder. I mean I used to get small and simple rooms during my runs. Now I tend to get a lot of large rooms with flies and different colore monsters inside etc.

The farther you progress in the game, the harder the unlocks get.

The game is a challenge. I played as azazel for a while before branching off. DOnt stick to one character, just try to unlock as many things as you can, because the unlocks are generally good. ALWAYS take devil deals.

Unless you're going for Mega-Satan or angle rooms

You'll unlock more levels that will be harder than during your first runs. Difficulty also depends on what character you're playing as, some are more difficult than others. But in the end you'll be rewarded with item unlocks which may be give you an amazing synergy in your future runs.

Well actually, there is a point where after you beat a certain boss a certain number of times, the thing you will unlock will be that the game gets harder. As far as I know there isn't any similar feature earlier than that point, and you (Mr. OP) still have a ways to go before you get there.
