Bumbo is pretty useless until level 4. If you have the time and money to invest to that point, he's great, but still not quite the carry of Tech X.

Does Tech X throw bombs at other beggars? Does Tech X bomb open secret rooms? Does Tech X provide you with exactly the pickups you require?

Does Bumbo clear rooms in seconds by itself without any other item/coins? No. Tech X without any other item/pickup/synergy of any kind is just amazing. Don't get me wrong I love Bumbo but as far as starting items go I would destroy you in a speed run if you got Bumbo and I got Tech X. Just saiyan

Bumbo killed Hush for me once. Bumbo doesn't need DMG-Ups or any stat-ups. Bumbo always drops batteries for my D6. Bumbo isn't mad at me, if i make mistakes.

Now pickup Tech-X and never find any DMG-Ups/Synergy and tell me how awesome that is.

Yeah yeah yeah, Bumbo is Love Bumbo is life. He's my bro too but you might as well argue Mega Blast is better than Brimstone. The damage POTENTIAL is there but while you wait 2 or 3 or even 4 floors for 24 coins I'll be way ahead of you clearing mom. You can say getting 24 coins is easier but it's really just as RNG based as getting the myriad of items that synergize with Tech X. I'll still have a bunch of coins to buy items also while you feed your little buddy for like forever just to be a good item. And like I said if you are speed running trying to get to Hush or Boss Rush I'd like to see you start with Bumbo. I got Tech X on the Speed! challenge and finished with 4 minutes to spare, good luck doing that with Bumbo. Anyways you're entitled to your opinion I'm just arguing as a SINGLE item with NOTHING ELSE Tech X is far superior, otherwise yeah I'd take Bumbo in a heart beat if I already had a good run going

For me personally it is either Tech X or Glowing Hourglass. I suck at BOI and both items carried me several times like no other item in the game. Glowing Hourglass with Habit turns the game into Groundhog Day madness. Difficult boss? You don't have to git gut, all you need is patience, you can repeat the fight over and over and over until perfection. It even rewinds the time counter AFAIK, so potentially you can use it to get better times on rooms if your speed sucks and you need to get to Boss Rush or Hush. You can also rewind your bad choices, like you went into Curse Room to find only spiders there -- no worries, just Glowing Hourglass that ♥♥♥♥ and pretend it never happened. Same goes for bad pills. :-)
And Tech X is just great if not the best damage/crowd control package. If I get it on a run, I'm 90% sure the run will be successful. Frankly to me it is more useful than Mom's knife and Brimstone.
