Does Spelunker boy and Dark boy achievement give you new characters? | Isaac repentance

I have around 20 hours in the game so im still a newby, but today I achieved both the Spelunker boy and Dark boy achievement. Since I didnt really look at the popup I thought the game said I unlocked new characters.

So I tried to find them in the character selection menu (since I already noticed I have way less characters on the selection screen than the ytber I watched playing the game, I was hoping I finally unlocked a few) but couldnt find them.

Am I just such a noob that I misunderstood the achievement, or is it a bug? Tried looking for the answer on internet but couldnt find it.

No they don't. they're just achievements that you need to get to 100% the game but it unlocks nothing.

I'd love to talk abt the game with you if you wanna add on discord. Been lookin for people like that anyway! I'm experienced ish (been in the community for years, not a playtime thing)

Thank you for answering, really appreciate it. I was kinda scared my game was not progressing.
