play on controller in online coop and how to change difficulty?

i can only play on keyboard, my friend can play on controller, if i press something on my controller nothing works, and in singleplayer the controls are completly changed, as I tested it, i wasnt also able to adjust the difficulty and we can only play on hard and we dont know how to change it :(

Current online beta is on hard only.
