HOW TO RESTORE A LOST SAVE FILE

Go to C:\Users\yourname\Documents\My Games\Binding of Isaac Repentance

Be sure to turn off steam cloud first because that may mess with the process.

In that folder, there is a set of 3 files called persistentgamedata.dat (the number is the number of the save file), and a folder called save backups. Go in the backups folder and grab the second most recent backup, or the backup with the largest file size (the most recent is your lost save, so ignore that). Then replace the relevant peresistentgamedata.dat file with the backup file. BE SURE TO RENAME THE BACKUP FILE TO MATCH THE NAME OF THE FILE YOU'RE REPLACING. Also make sure to delete the old save file since that's the lost file anyways.

I'll try to give as much help as I can in the comments, hopefully this helped you. Be sure to keep a spare copy of the backup you used somewhere so that you can restore your save again if needed.

ok so I spent almost a full night trying things till I just gave up and went to sleep, but I've read inumerous posts about it and started just trying it cause "what if"
at first, the save files weren't in the "My Games" file. on the computer Documents. it was at C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata, but here's the catch: it wasn't in only one file. in my case, it actually had 3 files with the same name/"directory".
i don't know exactly what one it is cause i haven't tested, i just replaced the 3 of them and it worked lol
the file name is "250900" and it had copies on other 3 files: "189245787", "189916532" and "1020855821"
just replace the "rep_persistentgamedata1.dat" with the most recent pre beta save file you have (in my case it was November 30th. oh, and you'll have to rename it to replace it. the save files can be found at the "My Games") and it will give your completion marks back!

I don't make videos and you can clearly see it by the video, but I thought it may help someone

Yo, I found a fix for me: if it's still not working try doing "rep_persistentgamedata1.dat" and if that doesn't work go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\"YOUR ID"\250900\remote and paste it in there and select replace file(copy the files to a folder before you do, just in case)

Hey so I tried exiting the beta, but whenever I tried to go back to the normal game, My file was empty, but when i go back to the beta, all my save data is back? what do i do in this scenario?

Note: I only have 1 save file ive ever played on.

Bro, you're a legend, that worked perfectly. Thank you. No more betas for me lololol. I made backups but they didn't work.
