Game Won't Launch

I made a Reddit post but to no avail, so i thought i might as well try the community here. I am playing on Steam Deck and suddenly yesterday game won't even hit splash screen before booting me out. I have tried all compatibility tools, GE, and QT to install more. I have reset, redownloaded, removed all mods. No dice :(

I still don't have a solution. I'm just not sure what could have gone wrong. It's just the one game as far as I can tell. Everything else plays fine.

Heya, same problem here, ive been playing on Deck with no issues (55 hours already) and suddenly today the game wont open anymore, and is there a way to check log error on steam deck ?

Seems to be a problem with an update released today, I was playing fine earlier in the day and after installing the update it just won't launch on the Deck at least. For my PC it is launching fine.

Apparently what happened is that the latest update broke the json.lua file, which handles save data for mods and such. That's what I've been seeing when digging into the issue. Think the only thing you can do is wait for a hotfix.

if you uncheck all dlc then check it again EXCEPT repentance you can play afterbirth

I should mention doing the second option listed (replacing the options.ini file contents) will likely disable any mods.

find the file labeled options.ini inside this folder, change the line that says "fullscreen=1" to "fullscreen=0"
I usually have to boot the game up in windowed mode, and it starts up with the window stating it is "not responding" for less than a minute.


If just doing the above does not help, I would recommend backing up a copy of your "options.ini" file to your desktop, then you can change out the options to the ones listed below. I'm not saying this will work for everyone, and I doubt this will help steamDeck users, but it might help if you just have a slightly out of date PC.

I'm having a problem with afterbirth+ where it will try launching the game but it'll just be a white window box. After a bit it'll turn black and then just force close the window. Anyone know what's happening? I can run rebirth and afterbirth just fine but afterbirth+ won't launch no matter what I try. It's not crashing either, it's just closing the window when it turns black for some reason.
