Remote play session glitch: Friend joins in as 2 players.

Whenever my friend joins my remote play session he joins as P2 and P3 at the same time. Whenever he is in the character selector it scrolls the options for P2 and P3. Both of his characters have hit boxes and when they get separated it can make gameplay nearly impossible to stay alive as he has to move both characters at the same time. I tried toggling all mods, exiting big picture mode, removing devices from my blutooth settings, and re installing the game, but nothing works. Any ideas anyone?
