Problem with using the Switch Pro Controller

The game recognises the controller fine, binding controls was super straightforward. Unfortunately, Isaac's movement speed when moving with the left joystick is really slow and I have no idea why.

I first thought it was an fps issue, but the rest of the game runs fine and Isaac moves at full speed when using the d-pad. I don't believe it to be a controller issue either - Steam Big Picture and my Switch itself both receive inputs from the joystick perfectly fine. I found a few old Steam and Reddit posts mentioning the same issue, but none ever got an answer. Does anyone have any idea how to deal with this?

UPDATE: fixed by going into the game's properties and setting it to use Steam's controller inputs
