The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth

The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth

How to tell the difference between the negative and the polaroid after picking it up...
I picked up one of the two, then went to do the bossrush. Now I can't remember which one I picked up and on hard mode I haven't killed ??? or the lamb yet with this character.

My question is, is there any way to tell which one you have picked up, after the fact?

Perhaps in the 'MY STUFF!' part of the pause screen there is a difference between the two icons?

Polaroid is white (well, the color of the pause screen), Negative is black.

Pause the game. In the My Stuff section, look at the photo icon. It should be close to the left. If it is black, you took the Negative. if it is white, you took the Polaroid. If you still can't tell, activate the (Afterbirth only) Extra HUD in the options. Assuming the photo you took is one of the last 8/10 (one of those) items you took (and considering you say you haven't gone to the chest yet, it seems likely), it will appear, transparent, on the right of your screen when you resume.

Drop a bomb, get hit. If it activates a sheild orb you have the polariod. If it activates an effect that kills enemies you have the negative.

Ah right, wasn't sure if it would look different at all in the my stuff section. Thanks for the clearing that up!

The number of characters that have red hearts is higher then those who dont. Since he has started playing it, character availability for characters who dont have red hearts is even smaller. Common sense. I fixed that capitalisation for you.

More characters that shared red health so statiscally hes more likely to have red health. Not so hard to understand. And on the argument that he bargained it, most players keep at least one red heart. All I was suggesting a way to test. Best option was suggested above: look at your item page.

That logic is really warped and makes no sense whatsoever.

You know the shield or damage effect only triggers when you have half a red heart or less right? If he has a full red heart or more (which is, according to your post, most likely to happen), testing this way won't give him any info unless he's close to death.

yeah, i don't really bother with proper capitalisation because it doesn't really matter in the long run. spelling and other grammar are more important. and as nazemec said:
