Shame on me!
I take everything I said about Tech X back, it sucks.
High damage is great, but it's easier to survive with lower damage + Stop Watch than it is to have high damage and be squishy as hell.
I would even disagree, if we'd talk about the pre-Afterbirth Stopwatch.
The question about which item is the best has been answered in countless threads already:
What's better than Tech X? Bumbo dropping you Tech X.
Yeah Bumbo is awesome, but the chance of him giving something great are small, however, he owns in any case I agree. I think the drawback of Bumbo can be a little greater without explosion protection. His bombs can sometimes cause accidents to you or other things. Also letting Bumbo take coins lowers your score, or might cause you to not afford something. AND HE WANTS YOUR COIN!
When I say do a run in no damage I mean not taking any damage for entire run for high score, I think nothing works better in game, as a single item than Tech X. There are some synergies overall that are much better I believe yes, but Tech X as a stand alone item lays waste.
Cases for other items are apreciated, play style also dictates which items work well for other people, I just love Tech X, as stated I just think it's amazing=)
I think the D100 (or D4) is equal - if not superior, since it doesn't only allow you to re-roll until you're OP (aka, re-roll until Tech X), you'll most likely grab Spun, Conjoined and Beelzebub along the way as well.
But the king of no-damage run setups would be Tammy's Head+Brimstone, preferably with some battery-items. (9-Volt, The Battery, Car Battery)
As a fun sidenote: Technology + The Ludovico Technique = remote-controlled Tech X.
The Ludovico technique has fun synergies, but I honestly hate useing it unless I already have items that synergize well with it. Not sure if I'm alone on that one or if other people don't like it as a single item as well?
