gurglings (reference)

I always wondered why they were called "gurglings" with a g in the middle, since they are baby Gurdy's, shouldn't they be called "Gurdlings"( with a d)? and there are a champion version of them called "Turdlings"

here's the thing. I'm not a fan of the Warhammer Universe, but I recently played a Warhammer 40k themed board game with some friends and I noticed creatures in there called "Nurglings", apparently they are the spawn of this God Nurgle who is a god of disease and plagues or something.

and I noticed that the Nurglings bear a striking resemblance to the Gurglings. So..could the Gurglings be a Warhammer 40k reference?

I just gotta say, the Turdlings aren't a champion version, but rather a seperate boss.
