Get Rebirth, it has many more items and features than the original, plus the Afterbirth DLC adds even more content.
I will say though, the original game had a much better soundtrack, not that the one in Rebirth is bad by any means. There is a mod that adds the original soundtrack to Rebirth, which is nice.
Binding of Isaac (BoI)
Boi: Wrath of the lamb (Wotl)
Rebirth
Afterbirth
I recommend getting the binding of isaac collection. It is £2 (3$?) right now, and includes BoI and Wotl.
It is laggier than rebirth and afterbirth and has a lot more glitches, but if you're looking for a steal, that's your game. The other two are really good, and double-triple the amount of content from the first game, but unless you're willing to pay the £12-13 then I would start with the original.
If original was a toy boat, wotl was an inflatable raft, rebirth was a battleship, and afterbirth was a nuclear submarine. the gap between original and new one is huuge, with rebirth+afterbirth offering so much more, both from a technical standpoint and from a gameplay one.
Oh... all of these are BEFORE afterbirth+ was released
