Except for The Lost and T.Forgotten, which get a -1 coin penalty for the next wave (can be negated with a glitch, but it's more hassle than it's worth).
For some tainted characters or a low DPS Eden start, there really is no reason not to hold R, though, unless you want to streak.
That being said, it's also incredibly easy to break Greed Mode. Like so easy, you only need a single D20 or Cracked Dice trinket to get all the items and pickups, you could ever want. Leave all the spawned coins on the floor, re-roll them, open all chests, pick up enough coins to buy a battery (D20 only) and re-roll again. Rinse and repeat until the room is full of pickups and items from golden chests.
And there are still other ways, to break it too, like Blank Card+2 of Diamonds/Card Against Humanity or Clear Rune+Jera/Soul of the Keeper, especially with Car Battery and/or The Habit.
Don't be stingy when you should restock until you find items on sale. Preferably items from the Treasure or Shop item pool.
