The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth

The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth

I give up on this game.
I don't even know how many hours I've put into this game. It's very fun, and SO genious with a mix of a lot of skill and also luck. The endless combinations, the design, the gameplay, the bosses, the unlockables... it's truly awesome.

However, I've gotten to the point where I actually raged QUITE a lot. I've unlocked It Lives long ago, which means I've unlocked Sheol and Cathedral too. I love this concept of unlocking these deeper floors, and eventually getting to Mega Satan. But to get there, you have to beat either Isaac or Satan 5 times. I haven't beaten any of them ONCE. Many times lately, I've had VERY good items. And I mean VERY good. Last game I was Judas, I could fly, had lots of DMG up and HP ups, as well as other stat boosts, Fat Protector, something that spawns blue flies, a protection item from an Angel Room, boomerang tears, and so on. I was SO powerul. Yet, once again, like EVERY FRIGGIN TIME, I die in Sheol. Often before even getting to the boss itself. I've tried SO many times now, and I keep dying and losing. How am I able to unlock Dark Rooms/The Chest if I can't even beat Isaac or Satan ONCE? Why don't I get better? Why do I suck so much?! It honestly frustrates me so much. It shouldn't be that hard. And today, when I lost with those amazing items even before getting to Satan, that's when I had enough. The game is so good, but I'm just SO frustrated and angry right now, angry at how bad I am and why I simply can't beat it. What am I doing wrong?! :(

You've got 35 hours into the game.

Question: Do you really know all the monsters and bosses-How they behave? What patterns are a boss have? What are the champion versions like? What are the kind of rooms that can easily harm you?
I don't think you can answer all-maybe even 70%-of these questions. Heck, you've played only 35 hrs. It's natural that you constantly get hit by enemies if you don't know about them. Isn't it?

Tip: Hmmm..if you're frustrated because you die even before you meet Satan or Isaac, maybe you can try to find IV-The Emperor card. It's not that hard-fortune teller machine, bombing skulls in Depths/Necropolis, Deck of Cards...there's many ways to get it.

i've literally put 400+ hours into the game, and unlocked everything with everyone. except for the co-op babies and... the lost. i'm curently raging at the lost since i haven't been able to do anything with it at all. But i truly love this game so i will keep marching on

I played more than 300 hours and complete the entire game (considering that I erased everything for accident one or two times).
This game needs training and sometime a little bit of luck ... try and die, try and die , try and die..... and eventualy you'll win.

Isn't hard...simply when you fail the game punish you.

As Haetae mentioned, learning the enemy patterns and how to dodge/avoid them is VERY significant in this game. When you unlock new areas (Sheol/Cathedral), they will have new enemies with new patterns to learn, which means it will be very difficult for a while until you get used to them. If you're dying rather quickly, you don't get much time each game to gain experience going against them.

If the game gets you really upset, maybe either take a break from the game for a while, or completely stop playing it. The main goal of (single player) games I think is to either pass time or get enjoyment/relax. If you just want to pass the time, there are plenty of other games/movies to engage in. If you're looking for enjoyment and you're not getting it from this game, then it may be something to uninstall. It's a relatively small sized game if you decide to re-install it later.

If you want to stick it out a bit longer, try looking up some playthroughs on YouTube. Watch them play and see how they handle the enemies/rooms that are giving you trouble. Learning enemy patterns and practicing are very important to succeeding.

Do realize that the Cathedral/Sheol and beyond are extremely brutal areas. Not only do you have to deal with full heart for damage, but also with some very sadistic enemy and room layouts. The only way to get through them is practice. Learn enemy attacks, their patterns, their weaknesses, etc. Also, learn how to get there in the first place stocked up with a bunch of items, and most importantly, HP. Don't give up so easily.

u simply have to learn the movement n atks of the mobs and more u unlock things the better items, I have over 100hrs on my vita. at first beating mom was hard n then the heart but more u play more practice and more you learn. if u wanna give up go for it but you can do it if u try right

In Sheol/Cathedral bosses on the floor are very common enemies unlike previous floors. And when you pass this chapter you will find The Chest and Dark Room where there is bosses only. Multiple bosses per room.

Sounds like a ♥♥♥♥ thing to say but, don't get hit. Don't take red heart damage on the second floor. Figure out what tinted rocks look like. I don't have much trouble in general beating the game now, but still have more to learn, such as the difference between rubber cement and ipecac icons (potential killer, trust me).

I learned a lot from NorthernLion (YouTuber). By watching somebody good at the game play, you will pick up on their tricks to success.

The more you play the better you get. You'll have to keep playing and unlocking better items to expand your item pool of good items. Taking your time to really clear and explore floors will help a lot.

Make sure you figure out how to find the secret room with pretty good consistency. Tip: The secret room is often surrounded by 3 other rooms, and all 3 rooms will share a clear path to the center of the wall in that room. So if there is a room with pits that you can't cross, then the secret room is probably not in the middle of that wall.

Make sure to save soul heart pickups on the floor until you're ready to face the boss (unless you're about to die of course). If you can take no red-heart damage during the boss fight, that will significantly increase your chances of finding a devil or angel room.

35 hours may seem like a lot for some games, but for this game it is a relatively small amount. Just keep practicing and unlocking things.

Yep this is a game with a long game leanring curve but it's worth it as you get better at it. I got a ton of time into this game and yet not unlocked all there is. More due to luck as what power up you get make and break the game plus advoiding getting hit.

You do not have to clear out every room sometimes it's better to just skip rooms if you can. Also there's a lot of nice guides to help improve your game play, I know I keep checking the list of power ups just to make sure it's something that I can manage as not all power ups are created equal.
